It's pretty much a characteristic of his species in the Anime series (Bleach).... He's a hollow (an espada arrancar to be more specific)
They have holes on their bodies

His name actually translates to "abdomen" hence he has one there
There's one arrancar who has one on his penis (Syazel Aporro Granz : Who has the same birthday as me )

haha I saw Bleach two years back... and now, I've stopped following the anime due to the ridiculous amount of fillers. I just follow the manga these days!

Naruto is funny, and interesting.. Bleach is still my first love for anime, it was the first anime series I actually watched! (seriously)
