Yeah, so this is horribly too late for the contest at , but oh well. I started it, so I had to finish it.

It's "Team Ancients," my homemade Sonic Heros team. I had the hardest time coming up with characters for Power and Flight. I wanted to include a female character, but I couldn't figure out what species to make her, and which slot to put her in. And I didn't want a bug or a bird for the Flight team member, and bats are just done (yeah, I know, says the girl who put a hedgehog in for Speed).

So I eventually put Team Ancients together, with the wonderful help of my roommate (she provided me with a team name).

Speed: Zak the Hedgehog
Power: Thorn the Fox
Flight: Talon the Dragon

So a bit of background on the characters. Bear with me, I eventually plan on writing out a fanfic with them.

Zak: If you recall from my previous devation about him, is one of the primitive Mobian hedgehogs (when they were little more than neanderthals). He was taken in by Tikal's family and "civilized," and then frozen in...oh, probably raw chaos emerald or something (I'll think of the actual substance later) to protect him when Chaos tore apart the echidna civilization. He was revived much, much later, in Sonic's time, on accident by Eggman. Eggman then convinced him to try to steal the chaos emeralds from Knux and Sonic, but the latter two managed to convince Zak that they, not Eggman, were the good guys. It helps that Zak recognized Knuckles (even if Knuxie didn't recognize Zak). So Zak joined the Freedom Fighters, got rid of his shackles, got himself some clothes, and started doing similar work to Sonic. Now, Zak can't use chaos emeralds at all (not even for Chaos Control), so he relies entirely on his extreme speed and his claws (which he still has).

Thorn: The reason this team is called Team Ancients is because all three of its members are, technically, Ancients. Thorn is from a different region of Mobius, from a somewhat different time period than Zak (she's technically younger). Her past is somewhat of a mystery, including how she ended up imprisoned in raw emerald, but she was also freed by Eggman (a few months after Zak joined the Freedom Fighters), along with Talon. Thorn and Talon were ordered to find the Freedom Fighters and disable Sonic, Knuckles, and Zak in order to make it easier for Eggman to steal the emeralds. Like Zak, Thorn and Talon were won over to the side of the Freedom Fighters instead. Thorn was fairly strong before her imprisonment, but she was apparently severely injured when she was trapped in emerald, and the Freedom Fighters had to give her cybernetic parts to replace her injured arm, leg, and eye, soon after she arrived in Knothole. She's angry with Eggman for sending her off in such a condition, and vows to help bring about his defeat.

Talon: Talon is older than even Zak and Knuckles in my fic world. His past is more of a mystery than Thorn's, but he too was imprisoned in raw emerald, and freed by Eggman. Unlike the other two on the team, he can tap into chaos emerald energy, to heal himself and make him stronger (so he can carry the other two).

So there it is, my team. ^_^ Enjoy! And fear the lazy, flat, airbrushed background!
