...When Theseus comes to Crete to kill the Minotaur, Princess Ariadne, who falls in love with the blond hero, asks Daedalus for help. Daedalus assisted Ariadne in helping Theseus get in and out of the maze. When King Minos hears of this, Daedalus and Icarus are imprisoned in the maze.

Daedalus tries to come up with a scheme to escape the maze and Crete. Finally he gets the idea to make wings. Using feathers and wax, he creates to sets of wings. He tells Icarus not to fly too close to the ocean in order to the wings dry and not to fly too close to the sun or else the wings will burn.

Feeling invincible and on top of the world, Icarus gets arrogant and flies up to the sun. The wax in his wings melt and the feathers burn. Icarus falls to the sea and drowns. Since then the sea has been called the Icarian Sea. Icarus’ body washes ashore and island where Hercules finds it and buries it. That island has since then been named Icaria.
