T. rex with feathers has been debunked.

The study itself doesn't actually rule it out, go talk with the authors.Β

Yes it dose.
Have you talked to the authors.

No but I have actually read the freaking study. They say that feathers on upper parts of the body aren't impossible even with the new data.Β

Yes, but quite a few paleontologists are in disagreement with him, and again; the paper itself still says feathers haven't been ruled out yet, just less likely than before.Β

Are the other paleontologists Tyrannosaur experts? No?

Some (like Tom Holtz) are.
Yes, even actual tyrannosaur specialists are arguing with each other over this, and this is why the paperβs conclusion is actually a lot more cautious than you claim.

You do know how feathers work, right?
π: 0 β©: 1
acepredator In reply to JPGuchiha [2018-10-29 03:58:54 +0000 UTC]
Yes, in that they have a much higher size limit than fur when it comes to overheating.

Yes weβre talking about feathers.
Which actually shifts the argument in MY favour.

Because youβre the one arguing against tyrannosaurids having feathers.

As stated in the description, this was a commission for someone who specifically wanted unlikely plumage. That was the point, and even then I still stuck to feather types and colors that are known in non-avian dinosaurs, and the areas we do have skin impressions from in T. rex are not shown with feathers--I've made it as accurate as possible while still meeting the client's wishes.
I also think we need more extensive fossils before we really call feathered T. rex totally debunked, though it seems unlikely it was extensively feathered if it did have them--but as it stands, I'd like to see more specimens discovered so we learn more. Here's hoping for a T. rex mummy one day!

Ah, I know the type--I've heard of a few communities in the world of paleo who don't actually seem to know how paleontology--or any science--actually works when it comes to evidence, so I'm not surprised I'd bump into them on a piece like this. He's been dealt with. u.u

I haven't seen that particular video, no, but believe me, I'm well aware of Dr. Carr's work. While it does seem clear there's some kind of heavy keratinization on T. rex's face, I don't think it's as crocodile-like as he claims. Mark Witton gives a pretty good rundown of what he's found here:Β markwitton-com.blogspot.com/20β¦ and I've incorporated that into this painting.
But I reiterate that this particular T. rex has feathers because someone paid me to paint it that way.

Many animals do, so it's not out of the question at all ^^
A study was recently published about how ceratopsians' frills really were just for display, so those definitely would have been boldly patterned at the least, and brightly colored at the most; I don't know about anything about the thermoregulation bit though, I've not heard of it.
And no doubt dromaeosaurs would have in some capacity, though with them being smaller predators, camouflage would have still been pretty important--but they could have still had pretty distinctive patterns too ^^
