Description
Blade was grounded for the week. Thankfully it wasn’t because of burns of this time. Just a little bit of sickness as it were, though that didn’t mean it was fun for him. He hated being grounded. He wanted to be out there helping the others. He was thankful that Windlifter could cover for him, but it drove him crazy when he heard the alarm sound and he couldn’t answer to it.

The helicopter sighed, sinking on his bed a little, glancing out a window in his hangar, seeing some of the crew take off for work. He closed his eyes, trying to fight off the urge to just go anyway.

Maru would have my rotors if I even tried.

“Bah?”

Blade opened an eye, seeing a bright pair of amber eyes looking at him. The eyes of his few months old son Alex.

Blade smiled a little, coughing a bit.

“Hey, Alex…”

Alex frowned, nuzzling his father.

“Bah…”

Blade nuzzled him, being as gentle as he could.

“I’m okay, buddy…” He coughed a bit again. “Just a little under the weather.”

“Bwah…” Alex pulled away, going over to small box in the room.

Blade raised an eye ridge as he watched his son move it a bit.

“What are you up to?”

Alex move to the side of the box, opening one of his side doors to show one of his little hoists. He moved back a little before whipping his hoist out around the box, snatching it up. He giggled, showing his success to Blade.

“Bah bah!”

Blade chuckled.

“Someone has been practicing… Hailey’s been a good sister hasn’t she?”

Alex jumped a little bit before wheeling over to Blade, dropping the box in front of him. Blade smiled a bit, nuzzling his son again.

“Thank you, Alex.”

Alex giggled, looking up at Blade’s side doors.

“Woist!”

Blade blinked a few times before laughing a bit.

“Darn, Smokejumpers got to you too… But, since you asked.”

Blade opened his side door, having his hoist come around Alex’s rotors, lifting him up a bit. Alex squealed, swinging around.

“Wee!”

It was about a minute before Blade lowered the pup to the ground again. Alex yawned a bit, huddling up to his father.

“Bah…”

“Rest little guy… You’re still a growing pup, you need all the sleep you can get.”

Alex folded in his landing gear, closing his eyes.

“Bah…” he yawned again. “Pa… pa…”

Blade smiled warmly, keeping close to his son as he closed his eyes, joining him in sleep.

“That’s right… Sleep well, Alex.”
