A fancomic of a scene from the A:TLA fanfiction, Bringing Out the Blue by maguena1. Go check it out at fanfiction.net: www.fanfiction.net/s/6904038/1…

"AU. The arrow injured the Blue Spirit instead of knocking him out, and Aang never found out his identity. Zuko made a Plan to find out more about the Avatar. He didn't expect so many truths to come from the lies."

So, I'm pretty sure the trees and grass are way too lush - in fact, the saturation seems to make Blue merge with his surroundings. What can I say? I knew he was a good sneak, but I didn't realize how much of that was because of his clothing-choice

Personally, I quite like the trees in this, especially the hazy light underneath.  I'm sure Blue chose his clothes to blend in, since he has enough to do concealing that bright mask :-P  The only place where it looks a little odd is the panel with Blue and Sokka face to face - there, the contrast makes the line art for Sokka stand out particularly.  I really like the lighting on this page overall, including how you drew it shading on Appa's fur.  And Sokka's earnest enthusiasm is all lit up, too

Yeah, I agree with the face to face panel. I couldn't find a way to make him stand out (like he just popped into Blue's awareness), and the color difference is disorientin. I think I probably should have added some highlighting to Blue.

I agree with the face to face panel - I did struggle with it a bit, and in retrospect I should have lighted Blue up a bit - it would also have helped a bit with conveying shock.
Appas fur is nice,  but it did take a while, lol
I think the tree/vegetation style here is pretty good, though the saturation ended up being more colorful than I expected.

I have to say, watching you get better and better with your art style is pretty awesome, and you do a great job with capturing body language on a masked person. I also love the way you draw Appa!

Thank you! Drawing this comic has really been good for me. It forces me to draw things I wouldn't normally think to - and to draw backgrounds more, and cohesively; that's probably where I've learned most with this I'd probably still have issues with caves (trees aren't nearly as monotonous) but I've learned a bit on how to take on the task of drawing a background.
Oddly, Appa is easier to draw than the others... perhaps because we don't have as high expectations, and he's covered in fur, which is easier to shade

I think the lushness looks great! The coloring is amazing in general

Good, I was afraid it was too much! I toned it down on the next page, but maybe I should bring it back - as bushes, at least
