My beginning of my journey in the online Tolkien fandom began with LOTR fan fiction. I was 13 years old and this was perhaps a month after I discovered fan fic when I read Shirebound's Quarantined , a delightful AU speculating if Aragorn had met Bilbo, and Frodo, many decades before the quest. As you can see by the link and all the reviews, it has been well received by the fandom, and it spurned several sequels that are just as light-hearted and delightful.

I met Shirebound for the first time at the San Diego Comic Con in 2004. We have been friends ever since. Her encouragement and friendliness was one of the reasons I joined LiveJournal (which spurned even more fandom relationships), and my time in the LOTR fan fiction community has drastically improved my skill as a writer.

So, for her continuous friendship and support over the years, I drew a scene from her story and gave her the original yesterday (fan art for fan fiction; how much geekier can you get, eh?). This was inspired by a scene early on in the story. Instead of telling you what's happening, well, you should just click on that link above and read it for yourself
