I like the rough, uneven and multiple lines. The color in front adds a sense that he might be a ghost or something not in the present and it brings attention to the hand, making him almost a surprise. The tape over his mouth looks a bit out of place, but over all, good job!

aww, thanks rosa! I've been drawing on and off for "realism", this is probably my 6th attempt ! I still have to improve in a lot of things, haha. Thank you so much! And yes, it does resemble Dexter! Probably because of the gagged mouth, haha. It would be so cool if Dexter wore nails.

horrifying is very good! Thank you so much <3
It was supposed to be kinky but I'm no good at that, so it comes out terrifying, hahaha XD

wow ! Now I wanna know what happens next : D
It sounds like an opening to a torture, and "hot blue nails" sounds chillingly pretty. I like how hot and blue are associated even though blue is usually paired with "cool".

Wowww look at you! Look at this! Tryin' new things and SUCCEEDING. Holy cow this is really well done, I'm impressed!
Also, perhaps it was because the Sherlock fanart was right next to this in my inbox, but my brain defaulted this man to being Watson/Martin Freeman. Hahaha! Ha? Why did I even

For me, realism was drilled into me at a very young age. Haha! I'd say once I got to 6th grade they really started in with that crap and people were still pretty into it in high school (before most students were developing their own style). Though I am not a huge fan, I DEFINITELY see how it's helped me progress as an artist. I don't think I can do realism well anymore, though, LOL!
Yes yes, I was talking about your Sherlock BBC work! I just assumed, when I was looking at the thumbnail, that this was Martin. Hahaha! I think our brains superimpose things into our art subconsciously, sometimes...

Ah thank you! Well, yes, as far linework goes I do try and stick to semi-realism. I don't care for shading or lighting when it's within my own work, though, which I think is a very important part of realism. I love when other people do it, but ever since I stopped doing it I've forgotten how, haha. It took me a lonnnng time to get to where I am with my linework, though. Like, I look at stuff I did years ago that, at the time, I'd thought looked realistic. And I now realize doesn't even look remotely realistic, LOL! It's hard in general, but it's especially hard if you're trying to work it into a style you've established (which needs to evolve along the way).
I do know what you mean about the beauty thing. I've seen beautiful ass pictures of unattractive people hohohohoho :'DD
Recs! Ahh. Oh man. Well if you peruse my last journal (in which I explain that I reference porn for anatomy and beg for good alternative recs) you'll find a few good sites! I've bookmarked them all, somewhere, but. I'd just do a fast scan for links in the comments and see if you find anything useful! There's some awesome stuff in there.

Ah yes, I know Yuumei! I like her work, too, which... I guess surprises me? That I like it, I mean. I don't watch her any more, but I definitely did at some point. And the second artist - yes, I love that style of shading and lighting! I've seen it before and I love it. Should I ever attempt shading and lightning again that's how I'd go about it (flat blocks of color), though those are things I don't understand anymore ahah. So sad.
