"Hey-hey, Madison!" Olivia exclaimed as she bounded over to the towering hornet woman that she called a girlfriend, Madison’s scowl that she had entered the house with softened into a gentle smile as she looked to the smaller woman. “What’s up? Something good happen today?” The receptionist spoke as she slipped off her shoes while Olivia’s tail wagged in excitement. “Yeah, Inari came on over and showed me a game and I thought we could play it together!” The hornet girl’s eyes drifted up as her mind cycled through a list of excuses not to do it- she wasn’t very much in the mood to play a videogame, but her mind settled on the excuse. “Ah, perhaps another time, I’m not very good a-” Madison found herself jerked forward as the Okami pulled her along towards the living room. “Nonsense! I’ve seen you play plenty of games, and this one’s a good one, its right up your alley- its a rhythm game.” Now that did catch Madison’s attention, perhaps this wouldn’t be so bad…

The two joined one another on the couch that groaned under Madison as she leaned forward while Olivia booted up the game from the main menu of their console. “Inari’s profile is still logged on, I’ll keep it that way because she unlocked all the character customisation, but this was super-fun to play!” Madison’s antenna twitched as her Abdomen cradled itself on the couch like a third person seated. “Alright but what’s it ca-“ The title of the game flashed up as it loaded into the title screen while Olivia looked smugly to Madison, frozen mid sentence before she started off again. “Oh, Rhythm Duels 3, okay, that makes sense, so… You said something about character customisation?” Madison looked to Olivia while still taking in the details onscreen, one of the numerous advantages of those compound eyes of her. “Yes~ it’s really good, here, why don’t you give it a go and I’ll go make some coffee?” The wolf-woman handed the controller over to Madison as she skipped towards the kitchen, leaving the hornet girl alone with the blank character template while her happy humming reverberated through the walls.

In short order Olivia sauntered in, two cups of steamy hot coffee in it as she set them down on the table in front of Madison who now had a somewhat lookalike of her face on the screen! “Did you remember nine sugars?” Madison half-mumbled as her eyes and attention remained fixed on the screen while Olivia’s hands rose to her head and her tongue stuck out. “Oops, I added ten, my bad, I usually round up when its so close like that.” Madison frowned slightly, but it seemed to be at the fact that the nose of the character had something off about it as she scanned through the menu options. “That’s fine… There’s not too much difference between nine and ten, if you said eight or eleven then I’d have thrown the mug at you.” Olivia snickered before pointing out the right option for her girlfriend. “I’d be scared if you could hit me, or if you didn’t pretty much take iced coffee, it has been getting hot out lately, want me to make some later?” This got a snort out of Madison as she eyes the tempting cup of coffee before flipping to more options on the menu. “I’ll be fine, though maybe one when we go on a run together couldn’t hurt… I’ll admit if you told me this character creator was the whole game I’d still enjoy it, this might be the closest I’ve gotten to making me in a game.” Madison laughed as she reached down for her cup of coffee and begun to sip the sweet sugary goodness. “There’s even species options, go and check them out!” Olivia implored, holding her mug with both hands given that it was bough for Madison’s larger hands but the Okami liked just having more coffee to drink. “Oh really? Well I don’t think they have…” Madison’s jaw dropped as she selected the list and was greeted with hundreds of options, her eyes picking through them all with awestruck admiration. “Lamia, drider, matango, alraune, kitsune, mermaid, there must have been so many programmers and modelers on this game…” Madison stopped once she saw ‘hornet’ on the list and couldn’t notice in the bottom left corner of the screen the logo of the studio and recognize it… They were part of the Morag Mor group’s properties, in fact the development studio was in the same building she worked as a receptionist for. Madison clicked the option and found the resemblance to be uncanny, it was like looking into a strange mirror… “Oh, put your uniform on it, please! It’d look so good!” Olivia pleaded as a somewhat different coloured outfit from the one she was wearing was added to the avatar while Olivia squealed in delight. “It’s perfect! Leave it like that! Let’s get into a duel with this character!” Madison admittedly had to exert great effort to remember that this was in fact a rhythm game and not just a big character creator as she set her coffee down while Olivia fetched her controller. “Oh yeah, so how do these duels work?” The hornet girl questioned with a tilt of her head while the Okami plopped herself onto her spot on the couch. “So the way it goes is that you both are playing different song verses, and during their verse you gotta make it difficult for the other player by using your species’ special ability to mess with them, I dunno the hornet’s one but I will try out this character Inari showed me earlier…” Olivia went through the character selection screen passing by what appeared to be one of the lords, a dark skinned elf with white hair and a punk aesthetic to her, and a strange maid with long blue hair before landing on what appeared to be some sort of enormous nude drider with pale skin and her modesty only covered by her huge head if wild hair, the character appeared to be named ‘Arianna’. “This is one of Inari’s custom characters, I dunno what she's based off but I wanna try her out.” Madison sighed and nodded her head in response, picking her character she made earlier. “I guess that’s fine, what’s the worse that could happen?” The secretary chortled as she selected her character, the countdown to the ‘duel’ beginning as both girls leaned forward…

The countdown completed, and the characters were loaded into a fairly featureless hall that brought up a peculiar UI, with both character's faces at the bottom stacked off in opposition towards one another while they stood, seemingly ready to fight. Madison gulped as the arrows indicating the directions that the two would have to press to increase their score fell down the screen, she could tell that Olivia must have put it on medium difficulty or so judging from the pace that they descended as Madison readied her fingers, the receptionist's rhythm was average, but her fingers were lightning quick. The two were off to a great start, the two characters gesticulating at one another as they 'sung' their songs at one another, Madison couldn't help but admit that she was having her fun as the first verse came out with her in a close lead, Olivia pouting slightly before a wicked grin crept across her face. As the second verse was about to begin a flash-cut of Arianna's face appeared on the screen as the arachne pointed her abdomen at Madison, a cartoonish glob of webbing shooting out and impacting the hornet girl, immediately cocooning her and forming a web that attached to the scenery with her character at the center. "What the hell? What was that?" Madison yelled as she saw some of the arrows turn to web-covered arrows as she pressed them, she found that her character only let out 'mmphs' and actually lost progress against Olivia! "Oh that? That's my special ability Madison, you'll have to get out of that before you lose~" Olivia smugly spoke as Madison found that as her bar of progress lost more to her girlfriend her clothes started to appear on Arianna as she stole her outfit! "Why's she taking my clothes? What are you doing to make that happen?" Olivia simply smugly grinned as Madison came closer and closer to losing, having lost pretty much all her progress before her character stopped struggling, and stopped responding as Arianna laughed haughtily while clad in Madison's uniform as "P2 Wins!" Flashed across the screen Madison's eye twitched as she thrust herself up from the couch as her wings buzzed furiously. "This game suckzzz anyway" The hornet girl got even more annoyed once she realized that her rare tic had popped out since she had gotten so mad, the room shook as Madison stomped out while Olivia smiled to herself. "Ah geez... Looks like I'll have to make it up to her, hmm, I wonder if she'd like me covered in chocolate sauce..."

Apologies for taking so long but here is my next commission from set up as a delightfully delicious image with some fun UI elements between Arianna and Madison, I decided to give it a bit more flair while writing the story and hopefully make it a bit more interesting and give an insight into some changes going on behind the scenes with certain things that you will find out in due time~
