Description In celebration of the 1000 page views received on Sunday, this normally shy kazegitsune (wind fox) has begged temporary leave from her goddess' side to join the festivities and grace us with her presence. Her name is Kaiah and her job usually entails directing the winds to help seed the fields and woodlands of her home range. She is benevolent and kind, seeking only the peace and happiness that exists in life. However, were you to do something destructive or harmful, she has the power to make you very sorry you wronged her and isn't afraid to use it. So beware!

----------------------------------------------------------

@w@ Aaah! I'm SO very pleased with this drawing!! It turned out way spiffier than I originally imagined...her eyes especially turned out nice. I may start doing eyes like this from now on...maybe.

Kazegitsune...there's no record of them anywhere, but I believe in them anyways. ^w^ The design came from being far too obsessed with the game Okami and the series Avatar. Hehe. And the background image is my own version of the sacred flames of Inari. Her jewel/fox ball seems rather large, but I figure since she can control wind, it's no problem to balance it on her tail. ^w^

Anyways, enjoy her...but ABSOLUTELY NO STEALING OR YOU WILL BE CURSED!!!! >W<# Respect fellow artists! Ask first!!

character, artwork, story, design, kazegitsune concept, etc. are all © myself (Akagitsune/Oj Flohe) 2008

my fox has always been a shape shifter, since i was very little, but mostly fennec or swift.
turns out that in almost every culture with animal shamanic belief the fox is either a shape shifter or has the ability to move from our world into the two unseen worlds, the astral and ether. i also love your ether fox btw!!! ;-P sorry for the history less!!!!!!!!!

awesome! ^w^ i've always felt gray foxes represented me...small, shy, solitary (or small family oriented), love to climb trees, enjoys eating small birds and eggs, etc. =3

haha, that's ok! i've actually heard some of that...just didn't realize it was most cultures. my focus is on Japanese culture and i've heard they play a significant role in Native American culture as well.

but yes, that's really neat! thanks! ^w^

native americans, central american, inuets, all of pre christian europe,
in africa the have the legend of the pale fox,
this is the most in depth, and the only one i know of where the fox is the
iconization(sorry engish bad) of the primary diety.
though a very dualistic savior indeed.
if you can find anything on this one it is very much worth a looking up!

have you studied Japanese folklore at all? the fox is a messenger of the goddess Inari and sometimes the fox is also thought to be a form of the goddess. ^w^

thanks!

i haven't gotten that fat into it, though japan hold great spiritual intrest for me.
i have read alot about the base belief in kie, and the spirits of the world...
but i have not yet found a good book on the higher spirits or gods..... maybe you got a good title for me?
sigh, so much new age crap out there nowadays....... sigh

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Akagitsune In reply to VosIx [2008-12-09 00:29:35 +0000 UTC]

me too! ^w^ what's "kie" though?

hmm, i dunno any good books for all the Japanese gods, but a good book on Inari and fox worship is "The Fox and the Jewel" by Karen Smyers. It talks in great detail about foxes in Japanese folklore, religion, etc. from an anthropological stand point. ^w^

i am particularly interested in the Shinto belief that all things have a spirit and that we should be respectful of them.

and yeah...there is a lot of crap. sometimes i get discouraged going to the "new age" section of most book stores.

kie (as i know it) it the life force, chie of the chines or prana for the indians.
but i am dutch/irish/saudi and i grew up in the middle east. i have learned many many mis-translations growing up =/.

Akagitsune In reply to VosIx [2008-12-14 15:05:12 +0000 UTC]

ah, in the states we spell it "ki"...the extra "e" threw me off, that's all. ^w^ and yes, it's very interesting to read about...and experiment with.

when my brother and i were younger, before we knew about ki, we used to play this game where we'd try pushing each other...then we'd pretend we were connected to the ground and try again...the person being pushed wouldn't budge! it's amazing how when you focus your energy how much harder it is to be moved. owO

anyways...neat! i would like to say my heritage is that interesting, but it isn't. my family is 3rd generation german/english and i've only lived in the states, besides when i studied abroad in Japan.

ah, my mom is irish and saudi, my dad is dutch.
as a result of having been schooled in three languages,
i can easily forget if am using the dutch/arabic/english if thewords are too simillar.
ki = english (most commen but is a phonic trans. 2 english char.)
kei = dutch
kie = phonic arabic put to engish char.
....... i think .......
this is why i am going back to school!
there is just too much to know, and too many toungs to communicate in!
diversity is a difficult but beautiful thing...

Akagitsune In reply to VosIx [2008-12-15 15:46:30 +0000 UTC]

ah, that's wonderful! i've always wished i could have grown up with more than one language...learning them as you get older is more difficult. (and my Japanese skills are eroding now that i'm not in Japan, or taking any Japanese classes *cries*)

what will you be learning in school? just languages? i hope to take at least a semester of Russian before i graduate...and i'd love to learn Thai, but sadly our school doesn't teach it.

actually, i am hoping to study light, EM, and acoustic sciences.
but they are subject pioneered in english.
basically in your going tec. and you don't speak japanese it all comes back to english.
html in russia uses english scrip, that sort of a thing.
but i would like to apply scientific understanding to spirituality.

The eyes are the first thing I noticed! It's so pretty! Congratulations on your 1000 page views too, even though it happened over a month ago! She looks like she could very well be a bonus brush stroke spirit guardian thingy for Ammy to receive a technique from!

yay! glad you like her! she's my favorite-est! ^w^

her eyes were done by using a linear gradient...i'd been experimenting with radial gradients (husky wolfie animation's eyes) but the linear gradient is just soo much cooler! OwO

you should try it sometime! ^w^

(and Okami is the bestest game ever!! aah!! @w@)
