Description It's probably not necessary that I put in who they all are, but, ya know, just in case people don't know who they are.

I've been working on commissions and my Painter project, and I had start work on my Photoshop project, but it was one of the things that I lost when Painter wigged out. LAME.

Anyway, since Painter freaks out with my original concept, if I do it, I'm going to have to find away around the MASSIVE lag, but we'll see.

I basically have ADD here. I keep switching what I might want to do, simply because I have so many concepts that I can do. We basically have to choose a theme and run wild. My instructor said I have enough skill that I'm basically free to do whatever the hell I want.

... but I don't know what to do. So, I'm asking you guys to please, please, please help me out here, and let me know what you think I should do - which one works best for the theme, which one is better drawn, more interesting, and all that.

I apologize for the rather giant file, and this will be scrapped when I choose something (sorry for ze spam!).

1. Theme: Character Montages - Gokudera, Tsuna, Mukuro - Katekyou Hitman Reborn!

I think this was the first time I drew Gokudera. He's hard for me (which sucks, because he's one of my favorites). I don't have a problem with this piece so much, especially since Mukuro's the one in the foreground, but it's boring. I don't want to do some overly complicated background with it, so I'm kinda stuck and completely out of ideas (aside from adding the rest of the Vongola gang.
2. Theme: Hana Yori Dango - Mukuro, Hibari - Katekyou Hitman Reborn!

I'm actually pretty happy with this (other than having to paint flowers and grass and crap). Why, yes, I stole the whole pun on the hana yori dango thing... but it works with the sakura tree, as well as Mukuro and Hibari. In order to make this work... I'll probably have to add some more flowers, or maybe things reminiscent of hanami. I think this one is a bit more interesting since it's in a different perspective. I'd also change the text to fit, too.
3. Theme: Character Montages - Ishida, Ichigo, Rukia - Bleach

This piece has to be... I don't even know how old. I actually took this lineart, printed it, and colored it with colored pencil, so that version is very nearly done (as if I'll ever finish the damn thing...). It needs some editing, as I'd like to touch up the faces and that. This is assuming that I still have the original PSD. It might have been lost when my computer crashed in 2007, but I don't think it's that old. ANYWAY. It's as canon as my Bleach work will ever get. Boring BG, though?
4. Theme: Rivalry (or perhaps opposites) - Sasuke, Naruto

Okay, other than the fact that Naruto looks terrible, which I can fix... I'm not sure what other elements to add to get this theme to hit home. The color scheme itself would do it (blue and orange)... and I think that'd probably satisfy the requirement, but I'm not sure. It's a little fanservice-ish, but still appropriate enough for class. The BG would end up killing me... I'm sure I'd do something stereotypical like kyuubi and a snake for Sasuke... I'm so lame.
5. Theme: Character Montages (and specifically "Those Who Fight") - Gokudera, Yamamoto, Tsuna, Mukuro, Hibari - Katekyou Hitman Reborn!

This is my original idea for the project. I spent an entire day just doing this gods forsaken sketch! This is the one that kills my computer. Painter lags like a son of a bitch, even without all that many layers. I was thinking of doing something simpler. I'm not sure if this is the best of these concepts or not, but I was happy to get so many characters into a piece with full bodies (since my favorite thing is portraiture these days). I just don't know if I should take the time to lay in flat color in PS and then blend in Painter, or just do a simpler piece. Color also gives me some fits, here...
6. Theme: Weird Science - Szayel like OC - Bleach (basically)

I threw this in here simply because the lineart is totally done. It was a past project, actually, at the Academy, but it works for this project. I'd have to do some editing to the lineart, but it'd ready for paint... though I don't think it's inferior to the others.
7. Theme: Character Montages ("Those Who Fight" could also apply here) - Gokudera, Tsuna, Yamamoto, Hibari, Mukuro, Lambo, Ryohei - Katekyou Hitman Reborn!

This is obviously in it's really, really early stages (I play dress up when I draw - body, then clothes after). I was going to add some hands in here, like Hibari and his baton, Tsuna and his gloves, etc. Also, sort of like a watermark, above each of their heads (which would overlap), I was going to do their rings. Ultimately, the guys on the bottom would be on the top and this would be in a landscape format. They'd almost be like bookmarks, but those big black bars would be different and much smaller in the final version. I actually think this one would be simpler, and use less resources on my computer.

I was also thinking about doing a row of the Varia guys... but... yeah. That's a whole crapload of people!

So, that's the deal. I hope someone will actually read through this whole mess, because I really need some feedback. I don't know! I don't want to get halfway through one and change my god damn mind... AGAIN!!

Sure, I could paint them all (OMFG I'D DIE), and choose the best one for the project, but... yeah, I just don't have that kind of time. I do need to sleep occasionally.

I pick 3. *laughs* Okay you knew that was the one I'd pick. Honestly though I think 5 is really cool and would make a great finished product assuming your computer could handle such a huge piece.

Good luck with the assignment babe!!

It'll be neat to see all the finished projects. I'm glad to see Rukia in there too

I have to ask though. How do you achieve that camera from above angle? I keep making the legs too short. I can't quite bend my head around it. Any tips for not making them look really disfigured?

i had this whole big long reply ready and my firefox crashed!! WTF!!! the intarwebz hates me today!!

i made this, if it'll make it easier to understand... it's not exact, but i think you might get the idea.

[link]

if your character is 6 or 7 heads tall, then you might want to try measuring down to their feet. the heads will get smaller as you go down. how extreme it is depends on the perspective. the camera is in front and above mukuro, and he's leaning back a little, so you can see more of him...

this really takes a little understanding of the proportions of a figure.

so, i have them at... if i measured exactly, it's about 6.5 heads, i think. one head for the, well, head (), one from chin to the end of the breastbone, one from there to the navel, and one from navel to crotch... and then the rest from there. i like to make my character tall, so my legs are kinda long, hence closer to 7 heads, or i make the torso a tiny bit shorter. that's all preference, though.

all it really is... is making the head unit measurement smaller as you go down. i'm really more intuitive, so i don't measure on this... if i had, i would see that mukuro's thigh needs to be longer, and his shin shorter. *shrug*

i have a feeling that was super confusing. if you ever draw something like that, or have something already, and you want me to take a look at it, i could do that. might be too much trouble for you... but... it would be easier to understand, i'm sure. XD

Oh right. I alwys forget about heads!

I left a message on Y! for you as to which ones I liked. I mean to leave it here but I didn't understand what you were looking for at the time.

it's cool. ^__^ this was a long ramble about all those.

i think my perspective thing was probably confusing, too. soooooorry.

Actually that drawing you gave me was THE BEST EXAMPLE EVER. Having a visual like that will really be helpful when I try to do overhead perspective again. Thank you so much

I like the fifth one best. ^_^ I think it's the most dynamic and has the best layout out of all of the ones shown here. Though I would like to see them all finished at some point... ^_^; The one of Ichigo, Ishida, and Rukia is probably my second favourite.

I think you should do 2. For the different perspective, the characters that you're loving at the moment, and the fact that of them all that one has the least stuff you've listed that has to be done/fixed before you can get going on it. *laughs*

Yeah, when I have 6 WIPs, I just throw 'em all into HOLD and only leave 2 files where I can easily get to 'em... that's the only way I can deal with project ADD...

Hm, that's odd. Don't know why it wouldn't work. To answer your question, yes, it seems to work fine on here. ^^
Looks good. I love looking at your sketches.

well, i'm glad, but that's so weird. i can see it using internet explorer, but firefox does not like this file. i can't see it here, except the small preview, and it tells me the image has errors EVERYWHERE i upload it.

INTARWEBZ HATES ME.

thanks for clarifying. ^__^

Hm, I didn't try IE but I was using Firefox while I was looking at it and it was fine. It may be a corrupt file or different settings in your internet that's preventing you from viewing it correctly. Deleting cookies, browsing history and temp files and making sure cookies are enabled usually works for me. Try doing those or wait a bit and try again on the other sites. It might just be an error on the site that should be fixed soon seen as how it seems you aren't the only one with problems uploading and viewing. Other than that, I'm not sure what else to do besides searching on google or something for similar situations and seeing what they did to fix it.
No problem.
