It's really simple, take a base color and start increasing the brightness, to create some lighter variants (17 is a good number). Maybe you'll need to change the saturation values to keep a soft transition between each color.

Sometimes on the last ~5~7 color, you can start changing the hue too, so if you start with a red, you can end it with a more orange tone. With the color sequence completed, you can create a custom swatche and start drawing.
