Amber Macx is a 13 year old product of a future in which nano-technology has created a generation of super-intellectual kids, their brains enhanced by an array of microprocessors, called a "halo",
over her head.

Amber's mutant generation is also rebellious, and she feels a typical pre-teen animosity towards her "contolling" mother, who happens to be a Muslim...

Headed out to space, to Jupiter's inner moon Amalthea, she is aboard the spaceship 'Ernst Sanger', to investigate a new alien race. But the Iranians have already established a presence there, and Amber will have to come to terms with the power of that new alien race, and her regal Islamic destiny...
