I heard that this lens is not very sharp. What is your opinion?

it's true, it's not the sharpest lens out there. it is a bit soft at 300mm. but else, it sharpness is ok. of course way not as sharp as my 100mm tokina...
i don't know if i would recommend it, it costs a lot. for that you get a fast focus, great IS and it is small for a 70-300...
