I saw it when I was submiting my art for this contest and I was surprised. Your art is just original and creative! When I was looking for artwork added for this contest which is different than the rest I thought your is the most fabulous!

yes I try to avoid creating things cliche. I strive to create my own style(which I'm still working on), but I do get allot of influence from other artist.

Do you use fluid mask or something like that? Or just photoshop tools?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Alegion In reply to Sortvind [2008-08-30 13:58:07 +0000 UTC]

I use Nik Color Efex Pro 3.0 [link]

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Sortvind In reply to Alegion [2008-08-30 16:16:19 +0000 UTC]

But that is only for contrast and color adjustments, not cut-outs?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Alegion In reply to Sortvind [2008-08-30 16:26:27 +0000 UTC]

well when I finish a manip..

1. I flatten all the layers to one single layer.
2. I copy this single layer using > retangular maquee tool on the whole image.
3. I use my History table to go back before I flatten the whole image so you retain all your layers in case you need to go back and fix something.
4. I paste what I copied earlier as the top layer.
Now you can adjust the whole image instead of just one cut-out at a time, plus I use this method to blend everything together.

wow! how do you even begin to do something like that? seriously, whats the name for the kind of technique? I'd love to learn it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Alegion In reply to RephaimNoir [2008-06-25 02:50:22 +0000 UTC]

well not sure what you mean by "technique", but I use photoshop .. what exactly do you want to know?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RephaimNoir In reply to Alegion [2008-06-25 02:54:35 +0000 UTC]

so did you just cut around them and then stick them together? i use photo shop as well but i wouldn't know where to start. also how did you do the atmospheric effects? for example, your finished pagoda looks different to the one from the stock image.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Alegion In reply to RephaimNoir [2008-06-25 03:36:55 +0000 UTC]

yes each object was cut out, then added .. sorta like a montage. I adjust the color tones and light level for each object so it blends in better. As for the "atmospheric effects" Iused a cloud and mist brush which you can download for free on DA or on other sites. Hope that helps a little. Theres a bit more to it... but I would have to actually write a tutorial

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RephaimNoir In reply to Alegion [2008-06-25 04:15:53 +0000 UTC]

don't worry, thats something to go on, I7ll try it out and see if i can get the basic idea, it looks really great.
