Description An above shot of a swimming Siberian tiger at Prague Zoo. I love the gentle line of bubbles making a border of a vawe made by tiger`s movement.

Hi, thank you for your critique, I really appreciate it. Regarding the editing, the colour of the water is a result of contrast of still quite strong afternoon light, so no additional darkening was needed.

I really do find this image striking. For me, the first thing I noticed was the expression on the tiger's face, which from above, appears to be almost blissful. It puts a happy tone to the start of the image. From there, I notice the ripples, and the fact that everything but the head and the ruff is submerged, which makes for a beautiful contrast. For me, I'm not sure that the inked out black appearance behind the cat is everything to be desired, but with the lighting it works well. You can see all of the tiger, and that's the main thing.

The lighting is well done- it captures the facial structure of the subject, and lets you unconsciously locate yourself with the surroundings for the photo- rather than leaving you wondering about that instead of the subject. The underwater parts still have a faint tint, and you can see all the ripples and whiskers.

Over all, I'd call this very well composed and captured. I especially love the white spots on both ears. Definitely a print-worthy shot!

Thanks fo your comment. Yes, I agree, for example bright azure water or intense green algae water woul look even better, but in this case the alternative was dirty braun. So the intense afternool light did the mercifull job for me .

What stands out to me about this photograph is the quality of both the tiger and the water. I love how transparent the water is, and how you can see that paw underneath the surface, great capture!!!
Tigers are very beautiful cats, and I love how you captured the fur detail. The colors to this are also very nice too.
The lighting is also great, it really makes the face stand out, and to me it looks as though a majestic animal is rising from the dark blue waters. I know that sounds weird, but that's how I see this photograph.
Very well done!!! I even added this one to my favorites!!! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/h/h… " width="15" height="13" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="357" title="Heart"/> Have a good one!

For me, this is one of rare example of situation when strong afternoon light works actually better than evening one. But this is the exemption making the rule.

Úplně jsi mne namotivoval, abych vzal foťák a vyběhl do nějaký ZOO, udělat pár lepších fotek

AlesGola In reply to RukarioNakamura [2013-06-04 16:54:16 +0000 UTC]

Ahoj, to teď bohužel asi nepůjde, i když pokud chceš udělat fotky v pražské zoo se spoustou vody, není asi lepší moment :/.

RukarioNakamura In reply to AlesGola [2013-06-04 17:25:55 +0000 UTC]

Smutný to.

Oni přesunuli sibiřáky dolů do toho pavilonu?

No, on je to pohled do historie - fotka je vyfocená v roce 2006, když ještě sibiřáci a ostatní tygři obývali stejný pavilon .

When clicking on the thumbnail pic, I thought for sure it was gonna be a photoshopped/manipulated image. To my surprise it's just a perfect moment in time you managed to capture on film. Very beautiful. The tiger's colors contrasting against the dark water, absolutely brilliant. Loving the ripple too.
