Great contrasts in these! Pale- rotting green skins; beauty- uglyness; sensuality- (un)death...

very good, very, very goood!! love all the new pieces! was it oils you are using or is it some other type? i recently came into using gouache on cardstock where i globbed some dark acrylic paint on it as base paint and i really like it.

Hey Ralph! Thanks, man, I really appreciate it. Most of my works here on DA are done in both acrylics AND finished off with oils. I try to take the best from both.
acrylics are great to break layout colors, easy to to change play around with, while oils are amazing to go in details and give "depth" to the whole.Β

i like somehow the dry look of the gouache right now but i sure do have to try oils again (last time i used some was in 6th grade were we had to copy some expressionism stuff and i had Franz Marc... it sucked) but yeah, for the explanation!Β

What kind of black do you use? Β Or do you mix your own?
π: 0 β©: 1
AlexHorley In reply to MichaelThom [2014-08-27 23:34:00 +0000 UTC]
I tend to use no black, so that I can control even the deepest shadows " temperature", but even when I do use some, I glaze over it with some other color...
