She has a point you know?Eh......I'm somehow not all that bothered by the whole idea of Berry Punch being seen as the town drunk. To be honest I've actually seen a few things that kinda made me laugh a bit. Doesn't bother me as much as other fanon things like Trollestia/Molestia, "Cupcakes" Pinkie, or lesbian Rainbow Dash.
But in all honesty, does it make any sense? Obviously there will never be a town drunk in MLPFiM considering it's a kids' show, but we do know by canon that she IS a mother; an overprotective one at that! I highly doubt a soccer mom like Berry would drink booze. She does like berries and punch though, but don't forget that's not the same as alcohol. You can do all kinds of thing with grapes besides make wine out of it.
But like I said, it doesn't bother me quite so much, but I obviously don't support alcoholism and I personally think that the overly protective mother version of Berry is a lot more original and funny, don't you guys think? LET'S START SOMETHING AND MAKE MORE FANART LIKE THIS OF HER!!!
So yeah, I had her bring that up while.........uh, she's breaking the 4th wall? Dunno, maybe Pinkie taught her how to do it. :3 And why are they in Sugarcube corner? I dunno, I had no other good enough background. I edited this one a bit though to make it look like it's dark outside. And I dunno exactly what it is everyone calls her daughter.......Berry Pinch, Ruby Pinch, Ruby? Which is it?

I know this art piece is over three years old, but I wanted to add my opinion to it. I dislike the idea of Berry Punch being a drunk as well. At first, I thought it was a funny idea and was nothing more than a passing joke. Also, I think drunk characters can work fine if they're portrayed correctly. However, things just went too far and the whole shtick got old very fast for Berry. As you said, it wouldn't make sense for her to actually behave like this in the show since it's supposed to be appropriate for children. Thus, this version of Berry will always be a fan idea and I think it's better that way for this reason. But the worst part is, it ruined all potential her character could have had. There were several possibilities for her character to reach but since the fans think of her as the town drunk, that's all she'll ever be remembered as. It's kind of sad too since from what I've seen, she tends to be a nuisance to the others and she just seems like a fool in general through her portayals since she is too obsessed with her drinks. I know some real drunks due to act like that in other shows and media, but they're often meant to be unlikable or someone not to be taken too seriously. Regardless, what done is done. I apologize for the wall of text, I just want this character to be more than what she is seen as.
But, Berry Punch has been confirmed to be a mother? I had no idea. May I ask where you got this information from?

Eh, it's been a while so I don't think I remember but I think in the Bridle Gossip episode, she's the one who whisked away a little filly real quick from the doorway and then closed it to keep her safe from Zecora in the beginning of that episode. I can't check since you can't watch the episodes on YouTube anymore but I think that's what it was. Not exactly "official" but I probably wrote that with the assumption in my head when I was a bit younger and weird.

I understand what you mean. I actually did some research on the character and I heard that it's been confirmed that Berry Punch actually does enjoy a variety of drinks but, none of them are alcoholic for obvious reasons. Thus, I think it's safe and more accurate to assume that the keg that Berry was carrying was just ordinary fruit punch or something. I can't tell if it's a nod from Hasbro that they're aware of this fanmade portrayal of her or if it was merely a coincidence but, chances are it's the former since there were several fan references in the episode. Regardless, I hope that's as far as they go for Berry's references. I think making her act spaced out or too silly after she drank a cup of fruit punch would be taking into unfriendly territory. In my opinion, it would be best for them to play it safe rather than take the risk of causing controversy for alcoholic references in a children's show. I'll do the same if I write fanfictions with her in them.
Oh, alright. I think I might know what you mean. I'll probably do some research later on by myself to see if I'll be able to figure out the rest. Thanks anyway.

I thought that was her sister? They where in the sister hooves social together and have been shown together several times I just always thought that made sense.... Oh well it was never confirmed for cannon so I'm just sticking to my way! But this is funny and Molestia/Trollestia bothers me too, I'm happy to see someone else who dislikes it though I am a tiny bit of a fan of cupcakes....

Some people with alcohol or drug addictions can go long periods of time without getting their "medicine" and don't depend on their drug as a "crutch". Often, this is because they can always get the drug when they need it or have the willpower to keep themselves from getting too out of control. In Real Life, these kinds of addicts can go their entire lives without ever becoming dysfunctional. It isn't likely, but it can happen.

Characters evolve, good aspects bad, I get creeped out by Pinkies smile, only because I had a hard up bringing; that dosen't mean Berry Punch is a drunk by a burp. And even if she is, why does it matter? There are worse things than someone(pony) drinking. Seriously, they have death in this show, an unstable hierarch, ineqaulity and what ever else, but its still one of the most loved things. Not to seem like I'll take anything, but I don't look for anyponies personal bits, mangled bodies or whatever; but cross-overs, fanfics make anything and everything inevitable.
And besides, if people love something to a reality, it will have normal or assumed reality merged with it. Ie, death to more of a degree, as TS is an alicorn, kids must have realised her friends are going to die and she will only have Luna, Cadance, Celestia and Discord. Maybe Shining Armour too, because Celestia shouldn't mess Cadance over losing her husband to a shorter life-span.

Word of advice: there's such a thing as kidding around. That's what the artists do, they aren't being serious about every little thing and they know better than to actually make Berry Punch drunk in an episode. Drinking fruit punch isn't the same as drinking beer and burping after drinking something doesn't mean you're drunk (I know this cuz I heard an interview with Sibsy once).

I don't think you realize how much influence this particular community of fans actually has with it's show...
For instance... Derpy's actually getting her original voice back and having her own episode... (Which I for one am glad because I am autistic and quite frankly... Normal people suck with the mentally Disabled...)
It would only take a single description innocent enough to go over parents and kids heads and yet clear enough for fans to get... Hell probably even 2 to 3 words and the fans would clearly get it...
Both Hasbro AND the Creators of the show give Bronies a LOT of say in the show... Compared too most shows anyway...

When did we ever start talking about how the community influences the show (which it does NOT fully influence the show, only a little)? You said the writers are the ones who decided to throw that little joke in but I don't see what this has to do with the community. That episode was more likely finished before any of the writers ever knew about the community cuz that was in the first half of season 1 and the episode was probably complete before the show even started airing.

You Say you don't like how they have a drunk at a kids party in a kids show... I point out how the storyboard artist likes the idea... You shoot that Idea down because the creators make the show and the fans don't... I point out how Derpy was supposed to be a glitch... Got a little backlash... The fans said it was alright... And now Derpy has her old voice back because the Creators listen to the fans...

The fans continue the joke but it didn't start with them so they technically didn't create it, Sibsy did.
What the storyboard artist thinks doesn't matter, Hasbro and the show moderators decide in the end. It wasn't put in therefore it's not like it really happened and Hasbro wouldn't allow her to actually be fully drunk. They were able to slip a booze joke in in the "Owl's Well That Ends Well" episode but if they ever showed a character actually drunk on booze then that would be censored even more than Derpy was. And again, you're bringing up fan influence and this has nothing to do with it.
Alright, I'm going to block you now cuz you're just being an asshole. I'm not stupid, I'm using common sense. You're the one who believes that she's the town drunk just because one of the writers was joking about Berry burping after she took a sip of the punch but they decided to write the burp out so it's practically never implied in the show at all that she's the town drunk. She's just a pony with a cutie mark that has grapes and strawberries on it and likes to drink fruit punch at cutcineras while no one is watching, that doesn't necessarily mean she likes alcohol, not all punch is alcoholic. If you want to look into this kids show that way and picture characters getting drunk or do any other sorts of scandalous awful adult-rated things, that's your problem and it's also just your opinion but you don't need to force your opinion on me and resort to petty insults just because I don't agree with you. You're a weasel and that's all there is to it. Good day.

I don't see her as the 'town drunkard' I see it as a CHARACTER FLAW, and the possible reason why she's a single parent in most fics. The fact fandom also often makes her the sister of Cheerilee, IMHO, also makes for interesting drama.
