Description
A big batch of Medieval knives. Most of these were started well over a year ago but commission work has always taken priority! Individual pics and write ups will follow but for now here is the whole group together.
The blades have all been hand forged from 1075 carbon steel, flat ground and finished with a mirror polish. The bolsters are sheet brass and are soldered as well as riveted, and handle woods are a mixture of yew, walnut, laburnum, boxwood, rosewood, and apple. A number of these have a brass finial or cap at the end of the handle, which are either soldered or peened. Sheaths are hand tooled and are either inspired by or a direct copy of historical originals. I have also finally got round to adding a makers mark to my blades, which was a legal requirement for knives sold in medieval London. I left it too late in the build process to hot stamp these so they have been etched instead.
I can no longer sell knives to UK customers on etsy, so while these will all be available to buy they are not currently listed anywhere, but I'll eventually be looking to sell them through my own website.
