I've always found the relationship between Sessho-Maru and Inu-Yasha to be quite interesting. Love the way their emotions play off of each other. Their poses show their distinct personalities. Beautiful job.

I love your rendering of this as well as the inspiration for this background story makes sesshomaru seem more like himself rather than a sappier version as some people depict him to be when he was younger with inuyasha. Showing an extreme facial expression change with an intense emotion (such as saddness or sympathy) with visible tears would make his reaction seem very un "sesshomaru" like I love his concern is shown as arrogant aloofness...how many hours invested & what programs did you use?

thank you~ I'm glad you like the arrogant aloof Sesshy as I do XD
I guess I spent about 2~4 hours, I don't remember, and I used Painter IX and Photoshop CS 1

I love how you've done this. InuYasha's face is sweet and trusting, and his older brother seems conflicted. Poor halfbreed child! After the death of his mother, he would have no one but Sesshomaru to turn to, and if Sesshomaru rejects him, ...well, no surprise he became rough and unmannered.
To my knowledge, there is no word in the English language that gets any closer than the phrase "older-brother". Sometimes you will hear of the older sibling referred to as "big brother" or "big sister" but that's usually used in a more familiar/ less formal relationship.
Since English is largely a conglomerate of many languages, there is actually little of it that one could actually call "formal", especially so little of the language was created here. We just adopt what we need from other languages and call the whole mess English.
I was once told by a friend from Oxford, England (a very formal place) that he felt that English was actually spoken better in the US since we still pronounce English words the old way, as they did when they first came here. Now though, their pronunciation has slipped and drifted away into some slangy version. So even the Britons don't speak their own language the way they taught it to us anymore.
Language is a favorite subject of mine and I am endlessly fascinated by the Japanese and their codes of word useage. Add that to using 3 alphabets, and things get really tricky to devine the meanings.
I will happily keep an eye on your work from here!
Hot jets,
Mary Lynn

Thank you so much for your serious comment! It's the longest comment I've got from the pic.
I'm Chinese, as a graduate from a foreign studies college, I can speak English and Spanish, and because of my love for animation and comic, I also know a little Japanese. I always think translation is betrayal, there is something can not be translated exactly to another language, and some feeling provoked by the word might be lost. But fortunately I can paint, I just hope I can express some certain feeling through my works...
Thanks again for your comment! I'm sorry I can't talk as much as you in English, it just takes me too much time to find appropriate words... let's expect my next work! (I'm always nervious about my own works before it's done...)

Well! I can say your English is very good! I don't speak any other languages though I can read a little Japanese. I like to be as accurate as possible when I get translations because some meanings do get lost. Sometimes cultural differences make this hard, since some languages are so much more expressive (like Chinese!). I will certainly keep an eye on your future works! You have great skill and I'm sure you will surprise us all!

Oops. In the third paragraph, that should read:
...""formal", especially since so little of the language"...
Today is a hurry-hurry day and I forgot to proofread.
