This is interesting because the pose/base of this sketch was done back in September and I got stuck in a rut because of it because I didn't know who I wanted to sketch with this pose/base.
So many characters came through my mind, fancharacters, originals and whatnot and it just sat there literally without anything but the pose sketched out and it was driving me insane. I didn't even know how I wanted the facial expressions to come out. Finally the idea came to me as to who I wanted to sketch and I thought that rather than sketching these two lovebirds in their usual gear, in their most known look that's quite similar to this pose, I'd change things around a bit.
It's Tidus and Yuna from the Final Fantasy X game but in this sketch, Tidus is not in his FFX design. Rather, he's in his Dissidia gear, one that's very flowy, somewhat torn and I felt that it worked for this crazy idea I had for this sketch. Yuna though is dressed in her gear from FFX and not X-2 or Dissidia Duodecim (which is the same outfit either way)
The reason for this is because it came down to the sketch was a reunion type sketch in where Yuna would be the one who found Tidus. I know that's where the big complaint would come in of where exactly would that be since there's no background. I left the background blank for two reasons: one- mainly because I couldn't come up with one and second- because I really wanted each fan to come up with what they believed that perfect background might be, that perfect scenario. Would it be back in Spira? Or would it be in the realms of Dissidia under the current rule of Materia and Spiritus where a false Besaid exists? Could it be in the Order's Sanctuary or in the Dream's End? Are they floating, falling or swimming?
I really wanted it to be up to personal interpretation as far as the background went. Other than that, the idea is that it's a moment of many emotions. Tears are seen in both of their eyes, neither can believe that the other is before their eyes and it's overall meant to be a lovely reunion piece.
Sketched in pencil, traced with micron pens, erased the base and colored in with colored pencils (details with metallic and glitter pens).
