Actually i think its great the way it is the lighting is strong and yet works well with everything else in it.

are you allowed to take these photos through any photoshop clean up too or is this a test of what you can accomplish from your raw camera files?
Its a great composition of the portrait with her looking off in the opposite direction of her upper torso. if you guys get to run any standard clean up i recommend removing some of the yellow out of the channels, but if not this looks good to, i have this same problem when i don't correct for the type of light source (i.e. white balance or light mode like incandescent over florescent lights or whatever) usually because i don't have any time to change it at the moment. so photoshop always comes in handy in post-shoot work.
anyway, it's a Great shot regardless! just some thoughts is all

Our prof doesn't mind us editing, so that's a good suggestion. This one is grainy too due to the ISO on my camera not being the greatest. I did the best I could with my S2, but I certainly am open to suggestions on improving, even with Photoshop.
I always appreciate your comments.

Cool, I'll always try my best to help a fellow deviant out. I appreciate some critiques too.
But as for suggestions and tips..
here is my best quickest suggestion for photoshopping any photo with too much yellow in it is to take it into photoshop, Convert your color mode to CMYK from RGB then go to your magenta channel do a Select ALL, copy, and then select your yellow channel and hit paste. 85% of the time this fixes a lot of problems, (though you'll most likely have to adjust the magenta channel down a little bit in "curves") but thats all subjective to the photo it'self.
It works wonders on color correction. but don't forget to change the colors back to RGB mode. especially if your going to post to the web. The only thing this doesnt work for is photos that dont have more than double the ink total percentage of yellow to magenta, and/or photos that have a over exposed area that takes up 25% or more of the picture. But this is a good fix to try at least once on every photo with "iffy" lighting.
Hope you can use that sometime,
k i'm gonna get off my know-it-all box now

Criticism often comes across as 'harsh' anyways, only because we're usually invested in what we've created, but it's all good.
