Oil painting. 24'' x 36''. Hours taken...Many. @____@I won't lie, I end up hating most of my work after a ~4 month honeymoon period but I did this in January and am still really happy with it.

I can see why this is your most popular deviation. 
It looks as if the bird was admiring stars, stretching out its wing while trying to reach them, knowing deep in its heart that it's not likely to happen, that its wish isn't very likely to come true. Or maybe dying. One way or another, it's an emotional and important moment of this animal's life, and the pose lets us sense that importance.
