My Dad took flying lessons in a Piper Cub, but before he could solo, WWII hit and the Instructor joined the Military and left. My uncle had a Piper cub for a few years, too.

that sucks he wasnt able to finish it though. heh my grandpa just jumped out of em, not fly (paratrooper with the 101st, 11th gliders, and 13th airborne pathfinders)

I served some time at Fort Bragg...something about jumping out of a perfectly good airplane just didn't seem right. Then I made a good decision and transferred to the AF. No more "Airborne!!!!" shouts.
