Description
Okay, whoever said wedding planning was fun needed to be shot.
It’s not that it wasn't pleasant, quite the contrary actually. Wedding planning was really enjoyable, it was even amusing at some times. But it was the fact that you were planning your own wedding therefore it was more of a hassle than need be, it was tiring and very time consuming, and because of this you’d been getting home extremely late for the past few days. But two of your amazing friends, Kanaya and Rose, had been a big help as they made it their business to keep you on schedule with all your wedding related appointments so you could get home to your fiance and have a good nights rest as well. Rose and Kanaya were the real mvps.
“[Y/N], darling I know you’re having trouble finding a color to suit your taste but I need you to just pick something because we cannot be late for your dress shopping. Also it would be rude to keep Rose waiting for us at the boutique.” She stated, while watching you ponder over your choices and effectively knocking you out of your thoughts.
“Okay just a sec.” You said waving a dismissive hand at her while staring a hole into the different colored roses.
“Burgundy, I want them all in burgundy.” You finalized a few moments later.
“Alright we’ll have them sent over to the venue in six weeks, correct?” The florist asked and you nodded.
“Okay Kan let’s go.” You said, pulling her by her arm out of the flower shop.

You and two of your closest friends, Rose and Kanaya, sat on a small white couch listening intently as the boutique owner spoke to you in a very animated fashion about all the dresses they owned. Also, before she left momentarily to handle another costumer, she told you about how they had an almost unlimited selection to choose from and how you could try on as many dresses as you liked at your leisure. So you got up and peeked your head into the side room that held the majority of the dresses, and boy was she right. There were so many dresses hung up on racks and strung up around the walls it made you feel dizzy with excitement.
After about ten minutes the owner, whose name you found to be Ami, came back to see your blonde friend carrying about fifty stacked dresses in her arms.
“Oh my goodness let me help you with that!” She exclaimed, rushing to help Rose before she fell from lack of vision or just dropped something in general.
“Thank you Ami.” Rose said sheepishly, to which Ami nodded happily as she turned her attention to you.
“Darling if you want to try some of these on the dressing room is through that door, down the hall, and to the right.”
“Okay thanks!” You replied, taking the load off of Ami and Rose, racing to the dressing rooms.
Dress one ; You strutted out with a nude dress with a deep plunging neckline, it was long and tight and it accented your every curve and flared out at the bottom, the whole dress was emphasized with a very complex threading.
“I don’t think so.” Kanaya deadpanned.
“I’m gonna have to say no.” Rose declared.
Dress two ; You modeled an elongated white dress which fit snugly around your hips; it’s number one feature was the sheer long sleeves that had a floral patterning, otherwise it was a simple looking dress.
You got no response from Kanaya and a thumbs down from Rose.
Dress five ; You came out in a deep red dress which was a lengthy flowing cutout turtleneck gown, it was tight in some areas and loose in others that pronounced your figure.
“That one is nice.” Kanaya said.
“No no no no.” Rose repeated over and over until she got her point across.
Dress thirteen ; You sauntered out in a single strapped black dress which was short and frilly; but you really only tried this one on as a joke.
“wHAT IS THIS?1!!” Kanaya seethed, on the brink of going into hysteria.
“I actually think this one is okay.” Rose said thoughtfully, while Kanaya proceeded to try and gouge her eyes out.
11 dresses, a nervous breakdown from Kanaya, and a smoothie break later you were losing hope. You still hadn't found a dress that you or your friends liked and it was kinda frustrating.
“[Y/N],” Kanaya exhaled, “ we’re going to have to leave soon, you have another appointment in about 30 minutes.”
“Alright.” You sighed.
“Hey cheer up you’ll find one.” Rose said encouragingly to which you nodded in a disheartened manner.
“Tell you what, try one more on before we really must leave.” She said as if she was bribing a child.
“Really?” You asked in a delighted tone.
“Yes really now go!” She said with amusement lacing her voice.
You skedaddled back off in the direction of the dressing rooms.
You came back out not even five minutes later with a pure white strapless dress with a sweetheart neckline dress which had a fitting the top that was embellished with intricate designs that lead into a poofy bottom. All in all you looked like a princess.
“This is the one.” You breathed out happily.
“Agreed.” Kanaya said while Rose nodded in accordance.
“Okay if you’ll hand me that we can go on up to the front and I’ll ring that up. Oh and just for confirmation you did state you wanted to pay in full right?.” Ami asked whilst taking the dress and heading towards the register.
“Yes that’s right.” You replied simply.
“Okay then! That’ll be 4,000 dollars. You can swipe there, sign here, and we’ll have you scheduled back in about three weeks for your first fitting! ” She said cheerily as you pulled out your credit card because no one carries that type of cash around on a day to day basis.
“Alright see you then!” You said, dragging Kanaya and Rose out of the small store.
“Okay come on guys whats the next thing we have to do.” You said in a rushing tone.
You didn't mean to sound so snarky because really they were only here to help but you were tired, your feet ached, and on top of that you hadn't seen Karkat since 5 A.M. this morning and it’s 5 P.M. right now! And you were kind of missing his moodiness.
“[Y/N], love this is no time to get antsy, I know you’re ready to get home to your beloved but you know we have one last appointment scheduled for today.” Kanaya responded sympathetically.
“Okay what is that?” You asked.
“Hmm, the last thing on your agenda for today is to select what will be served for the reception.” She replied.
“Well I already know what I want to be served.” You said calmly before proceeding to list off everything you wanted be served, plus what drinks you wanted to be stocked and available for your guests at the bar.
“It’s good you know what you want but, you do realize you’re going to have to repeat that once we get there.” Rose piped up.
“Ughh.” You groaned in frustration, while walking to the car.
[Timeskip]
“Karkat I’m home!” You called out, waiting for an answer.
No response.
“Hello?” You tried again.
Nothing.
‘It’s about 7... he could be sleeping.’ You thought.
You walked into the front room and shrugged your jacket off peeking over the couch, half expecting to see the sleeping form of Karkat but apparently that wasn't the case.
You sighed and moved on to your bedroom.
What do you know? No Karkat.
“Where could he be?”
You heard the distinct sound of something dropping followed by muffled curses, exasperatedly you jogged back down the stairs and padded into the dining room.
You gasped as you looked around the room, the lights were dimmed and there were two candles set up on the opposite ends of the table. You heard the sound again, but it was coming from the kitchen and it sounded more so like clanking rather than something dropping, so you stepped into the room and watched on silently as your fiance fumbled around the kitchen. You probably should’ve been nervous because of last times fiasco and the possibility that something could blow up at any moment, but it looked like he really had a handle on this and had improved from last time.
You smiled from your spot beside the door frame, padded across the cold kitchen floor, and wrapped your arms around the waist of your unsuspecting lover. You giggled as he tensed up when you rested your head on his back.
“H-hey! You can’t be in here it’s supposed to be a surprise idiot!” Karkat said in an annoyed tone.
“It can still be a surprise, I don’t really know what you’re doing.” You said pouting childishly.
“Whatever, just do me a favor and wait at the table.”
You complied and sat at the table patiently waiting for him. Five minutes later Karkat appeared holding two plates with a lovely ensemble of food elegantly placed on them.
“Karkat you didn't have to.”
“I know but I wanted to let you know I appreciate you and the efforts you’re putting forward.” He mumbled bashfully.
“Thank you, this means a lot to me.” You said beaming with joy.
[Extended Ending]
“The food was so good Kar, you did a great job! I’m so proud of you!” You squealed while showering the said man with kisses as he laughed awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck.
If only she knew it was take out he put on plates.
