When you look back at things you wonder how I could have overlooked the obvious so many times even at the age of 12, but you have to understand something. If you can maybe it will all make sense.

The Manchester Academy is all we knew. No parents, just instructors. We were taught from day one that we were to be a new breed of heroes. Our goals weren't the same as other children, even though we were children. One of those goals was to earn the spandex and when I did nothing else mattered.

To earn the spandex meant to go on real world mission, of course those assigned to jade squad weren't given anything that had any chance for failure, but sometimes failured happened...sometimes. The goal was to go earn the next color and eventually to silver, which meant you were among the elite of heroes. Very few ever earned silver but that was the only goal in my mind since the first day I put on the spandex.
