This is really good!
Also, the king quite often is not the tallest piece and I quite like the idea of the Rook being a huge, hulking, charging figure. It works!

I've never seen a chess set with the rook as the largest/tallest piece. It's always either the King or Queen.

That's really cool, but the queen gives the impression of having the same distinguishing head mark usually seen on kings (commonly a cross)
