Description I was listening to Bob Dylan's "A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall" and started sketching some images I got from the lyrics. When I had four or five images (It's a long song), I came up with a story connecting them and four days later I had this.

I'd tell you what I think is going down in this scene, but I'd rather find out what you guys see ...

Here's some of the lines I was playing around with:

I saw a newborn baby with wild wolves all around it ...
I saw a black branch with blood that kept drippin' ...
I saw guns and sharp swords in the hands of young children ...
I met a young woman whose body was burning ...
And it's a hard rain's a-gonna fall.

-- I generally like Dylan songs better when someone other than Bob is singing them. So thanks to Jason Mraz for the version that turned me on to this song's greatness.
It's another big one, so there's a detail shot here:

First of all, thank you for asking me to critique this =alsobroken ,Im really glad that you appreciate my opinion. e.deviantart.com/emoticons/h/h… " width="15" height="13" alt="" title="Heart" />

This is one beautiful, detailed piece that must have took like-forever.Wherever you look there is something to be seen and this is what I find most impressing here, the amount of elements and little details, even in the background.
The composition is great, perspective too, nothing seems off.

The lighting is correct, fire girl is the source of light here and that light reflects nicely on other objects and characters. There are some things I would change. For an example the fire on the ground,in my personal opinion the ground around it should be lightened more, and the fire itself. It might look better if some highlights are added here and there. I would also change the lighting on the fire girl,to make that fire on her arms and her fiery hair stand out even more. But thats just my personal opinion e.deviantart.com/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)" />

That gun the boy is holding really stands out,in a positive way. It doesnt fit with the look of other characters around and I would love to hear the story behind the work e.deviantart.com/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)" />

All in all,its a beautiful piece, with plenty of eye-catching details.

LOL, ok so the way we did it in the 60's and 70's was to combine LSD and close our eyes and we'd see the same thing except I remember the flaming woman to be a lot more nude and a lot less on fire.

Sorry for the very late reply. The song is called "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall." Here's a link to the great Jason Mraz version: [link] Hit the arrow drop down menu under the video for the lyrics!

I found this via :dev 's critique. It's such a lovely piece, with so many details, I think I could sit for ages studying it My fav part has to be the fire woman though, especially her hair and also her pose which looks very natural.

It's listed as mixed media, I'm intrigued as to what the other media is (I can see digital painting). Traditional sketch? I just love to know how people do their art so I can learn

I can tell you put a lot of thought and effort into this piece, and you have done an amazing job, you have done what few can, use a lot of images to tell a story without it looking too cluttered, if I had to say anything other than wow..lol..it would have to be that the only thing that seems off for me would be the gun in the boys hand, i do realize you did that because of the lyrics, i understand this, but the reason it seems off for me is that it seems like it would be out of place for the element of time and place that the rest of the image suggests. Other than that fantastic !

Wow...theres a lot to look at here!
This piece is immense and has kept me looking for a while...I just love all the individual details which show great skill! There is such depth to the seen...i can see more then one story within this piece. From the fire to the wolves thi has been very well put together...Is this a 3D work or a mixture, its not the kind of style I see often to be honest, Its got a Sims look to it! Anyways I can't fault this.

I love the depth and scope of this image. There’s so much going on, so many places to look! The image has a great savage, wild feel throughout it. The people look great! I especially like the "young woman whose body was burning." Her pose, how she's looking at the baby in the center, her "hair..." it's all very well done. I think you did a great job combining the characteristics of hair and flame. I think that the grey wolf to the left of the pillar should be darkened a little bit to make him blend in more. He looks a little like there’s a spotlight on him right now lol. You did a great job in darkening the humans in the background, and given the wolf’s location you should probably darken him just a little bit more, but not quite to their level. Overall a very cool picture.

This is quite awesome! It's very... I don't know... prophetic looking. It has great depth, with the boy holding the bloody branch up close, all of the characters in the shadows in the background, and the baby in the middle of it all.

I can't really fathom what kind of story was going on in your head when you were drawing this, but it looks like it was pretty complicated. It looks like some sort of ancient ritual, but the modern looking gun contradicts that. It adds a sense of mystery... i like it.

Very well done. I'm interested in what program you used...it looks like it was created in a 3-D program to a degree, but yet it's marked under airbrush. I'm just curious if you entertwined the two or if that just so happens to be your style of painting.
