Description
General info:
Deergonflies are giant insects. They inhabit forests in tropical and subtropical areas.
They are solitary animals and only meet for mating.
Males and females have the same colors, but females are larger than males. Females can be as large as a horse, males only reach the size of a deer.
Like all insects, deergonflies are very strong and can lift heavy weights. They're also relatively intelligent animals and can be tamed. Females can also be mounted.

Mating:
Deergonflies have several bioluminescent patches on their abdomen that glow a pink light. Some rare subspecies can emit a light of different colors. Males will fight for a female and only the strongest can mate.
It's not rare that males kill eachother.
Females can lay up to 4 eggs per year. Newborn larvae can't survive on their own and it's the female that provide protection and food to their offspring. Larvae feed on regurgitated food from their mother.
Adults are omnivores, but prefer to feed on fruits with high sugar content, especially during the breeding season.
Wild Deergonflies are usually very shy and tend to flee when facing a threat, however they have a powerful, deadly bite so they can be very dangerous to humans when cornered.
Humans usually take the eggs from the females and rise the larvae themselves in order to tame and submit the Deergonflies. Adults are very hard, if not impossible to tame.

Anatomy:
Deergonflies are insects, and like all insects they have an external skeleton. They have compound eyes, and can smell through their antennae. Their antennae are also used to communicate with other members of their own species. The communication is possible with pheromones.
Deergonflies can make a squeaky sound by clashing their wings. They don't have vocal chords and neither lungs so they can't make noises like mammals do. They breathe through a tracheal tube system on their abdomens.
Their blood is transparent with a yellow tint on it and it's called haemolymph.
Some people think that Deergonfly haemolymph can cure insanity so they're mercilessly hunted in many part of the world.
Deergonflies don't have ears but they can still hear sounds through a specialized organ they have on their sides.
Like most arthropods and crustaceans, Deergonflies grows by shedding their old exoskeleton. After molting, their body is soft and very vulnerable. For this reason they hide in a dark and hidden place until their molt is complete and their new exoskeleton has hardened enough. The molting usually lasts 3 days for adults. Small juveniles will molt a lot faster.
Many caves are covered in old Deergonflies old molts, they are sometimes used to build armor plates or jewelry.

- You will recieve a high-resolution file, without the watermark- you can print it, set is as a wallpaper, use it at you blog (please credit me as an author) etc. but you can not use my art in any commercial way (like selling T-shirt).

Upon purchasing you can:
draw, roleplay,write stories, use the character for your prints... do what you like, it's your character now.
trade the purchased character or resell it (but for no more than what you spent on it. Also, I'd like to be notified of where the character goes - as I'd like to change who the character belongs to on the deviation to prevent any confusion)

You can not:
use my artwork in any commercial way (you only bought the rights to the character, not to the artwork)
resell the character for more than you spent on it
you can not make design changes (if you really NEED to change some small details just ask me and I'll see if the change is acceptable according to the species traits. Changes are more acceptable on legendary and ultra rare specimens, most likely not acceptable on common specimens)
you can not change the gender
you can not ask for refunds

BREEDING
you need to own a male and a female
you can have up to 4 hatchlings per year
each hatchling will cost 300 points
after your payment, I'll design your hatchling based on the genetics of the parents and your suggestions (genetics always has priority)
there is a chance that a legendary will spawn even from a pairing of common deergonfly, however the chance of getting a legendary is higher if at least one of the parents is a legendary or an ultra rare. I will use a random number generator to decide the rarity level of the hatchling.
if you want a specific sex or a specific color or marking let me know, however I need to respect genetics (for example, you can't get a pink deergonfly from a pairing of green parents. If you want to breed pink offspring, you need to have at least one pink parent)
