Did this all in ballpoint pen. I started when I was at a judges' training for an event which I've participated in for eleven years, so while the guy was explaining the basics to the complete newbies, I started drawing the Count and Dimentio, and got quite a few stares and questions ("Did you draw that?" No, I just stared at the paper and willed it to appear...) and compliments for it. Later I added the others. Mostly while listening to "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance on repeat, which is so mainstream compared to what I normally listen to, but I love it and the chorus fits these guys.We are

I made it a bit more purple on Photoshop. I completely freehanded this, no planning in pencil beforehand, so that's why Dimentio looks a little larger than he's supposed to be, but I'm just glad I didn't screw this up totally.
The words look like the way my Guitar Hero-loving brother writes random band names all over his folders and binders. HARDCORE, MAN. Look, these guys would make a great band. What do they do in all their time when they're not analyzing prophecies for how to bring about total annihilation?
This picture is dedicated to because of his Helga Pataki- like interest in SPM, that is, he claims to hate it but I'm pretty sure he's got a shrine to it in his closet.

I wish I could stare at paper and will drawings to appear. That would be such a useful power.
But the fact that you managed to pull this picture off without that power makes it even more impressive! The pen work does a great job of bringing expression and depth to the characters and surroundings.

Yeah, I've seen some people, even one of my good friends, who almost have that power! It's like they look at the paper, see what they want to be there, and immediately start busting out a killer sketch. For me, it takes me a long time and a lot of working and rough-sketching and deciding and changing and erasing and starting over. To just start drawing something without under-planning and go with the flow, like I did here, is very rare...

Man, this came out so good - I love the line shading on Dimento's cape especially, and his little wavy feet :3
Mimi is also super cute and the placement of the girl in the bottom right (gah can't remember the name) looks really good next to the text.

Do iiit, the ending will blow you away. It almost brought me to tears. I think it would if I played it again now, as I've had much more time to think about these characters and get to know them.

How did you do it all in PEN? When ever I do that, my drawings, while actually looking better, have like a million mistakes in it.

Hmm, I was extra super careful, and when my pen went in a way I didn't like, I just found a way to incorporate the mishap. That's actually refreshing to me, because I'm a perfectionist so usually when I draw on the computer it's UNDO try again UNDO try again until I get it right, but with pen you can't do that, so you have to just move on and make the best of what you have. After all, art is never "perfect" anyway, and "imperfections" can even give it charm.

Hmm, I never thought of doing that. I'm not really good at incorperating mistakes into the drawing itself. But, I guess that's what practice is for.

Also, doing the 100-trial in the flop zone is tiring! Like twice?!
BUt the dark forms are easy to beat!! You obtain a special ability when you comeplete it!

They can be a bit unruly, but you can also have soooo much fun with them if you try. And people are practically throwing free ones at you all the time. It's not the materials that matter, it's how you use them!

Indeed! The end result of her role and her great love is totally heartbreaking and puts the strongest ingredient of bitter in the game's bittersweet ending.
In my version of the game's ending (which is just a bit more detailed than the real thing), Blumiere gives her unconscious form a kiss (apologizing to Tippi, and also don't ask how he can kiss when his mouth is all teeth, someday I'll figure that out) and tells O'chunks (who is holding her) to take care of her.
The Count of course does the vocals because he has to let his suppressed emotions out. I can see Nastasia playing bass, very important but not an attention-grabber, preferring to contribute in the background. That leaves... Mimi on guitar? Doesn't seem to fit... And Mr. L is a temporary guest guitarist

Yeah, he is. And Mimi is a spoiled brat. And Nastasia is business business business. Even so, they are also loyal and sweet in their own weird ways. I like this band of villains so much because they're like some crazy family who all love each other even though they bicker.

A lot of my best pictures lately, like this one, have been originally spawned not from when I sat down with the intent of drawing, but when I was trapped in a really boring situation and my brain was like MUST MAKE SOMETHING COOL OR WILL SHRIVEL UP
