Oddly, I have a harder time with large things! It must be the practice I have with this size. Made this little fella for a completely different reason, but it became a nice test for getting different file types to dA!

RL has been taking a lot o time lately. I missed replies? Bah. I've really got to go through my messages. Either it been lagging, or it stopped deleting alerts for messages I've replied to.
I also kinda went on an anime spree. All of Fullmetal Alchemist, some of the Hoshi no Kirby's I have, an an anime my brother watches. So yeah, I got a little distracted. And writing, of course. Been doing that.

Once I reply to a post, it's supposed to delete the notification. That's how I usually know what I've replied to. I think it's better now. Thinkβ¦
And I do do that, actually. Just not for llamas/subscribers. That's only really two spaces even if they count for more, so my message count is misleading.

Mmmm. :/
Ohhh... Then wouldn't you not have trouble knowing what you still have to reply to? 'Cause if you hoard messages, wouldn't you do it immediately after you reply to them to avoid confusion? So then pretty much all of the comment messages in your inbox are stuff that you have to reply to, then?

That, or ones I don't have a reply to and/or are too lazy to delete. Some old forum conversations and the like. Being on the phone makes it a pain to go through the stack I accidentally gathered in the past, so I kinda jut leave it. <^-^;> Same goes for the deviations, actually. Think ill just clear that completely and start from scratch.Β
β¦and maybe go through other things.Β
β¦ Maybe now. Now's as good as ever. Mostly I just think 'hey I should do that'. Then go play a game or read Cracked.

New strategy: stop alerts for new deviations in super-active groups with low QC. That was a good half my buildup right there. The creepypasta groups.Β
I should be able to reply to the other conversations in a bit now. Now that I weeded out all the stuff I don't need in comments and I can see them on one page.

Ha, I'm surprised you didn't resolve to do that ages and ages ago. I was receiving deviations from a ridiculously active group with no specific theme (well, extremely broad theme) because (it took me ages to realise), but I'm actually a contributor for it. But after a while I just gave up, the notifications were ridiculously frequent and I couldn't cope with it. Now I only follow specific groups, like fandom groups, and most of them barely update. The frequently-updating ones are the smurf groups I follow (although manageably active). Besides, it's easy to look through those and quickly weed out the stuff you don't want and comment/fave/look at the stuff you do. I'm still a contributor for that group but I no longer receive the constant stream of deviations in my inbox - I stopped that over a year ago, probably much longer.
Yaaay, that makes me very happy! Exams and due dates are rapidly approaching for me right now, but because I've started watching the Smurfs in order seeing as I now have all the episodes, specials plus the magic flute movie, I can respond to the really old replies I have from you too. (So far I've watched all of season 1 consecutively and already I've noticed a tonne of things! Honestly, I should really jot them down as I watch as opposed to keeping them in my head... )

Yeah. It wasn't a problem before, though. Since I could ctrl-click lots of no interests at once and delete them. Now that I can't do that and with page loading being far more of a chore, it's time to do it this way.Β
Good luck on exams! And yes! Write things down! It's so much easier to remember that way. Personally, I keep a word document/spreadsheet open and find myself pausing a lot to jot stuff down. Though sometimes I watch an episode twice. Once just to watch it and once to notice stuff.

I see, yeah. About time.
Thanks, I'll need it.
Alright, what I'm gonna do is rewatch all the episodes I've watched so far (all of season 1) again and then take notes on stuff that jump out at me. and then we can go from there!
Hahaha and yeah, it's important not to let the whole pausing to take notes detract from your watching it and taking it in, so that's always a good method to employ. It's convenient if you're rewatching an episode you saw a while back and didn't take notes on, though, cause you know you've already had the chance to see it so you can just get straight to the note-taking part!
Anyway, tonight I started the taking-notes thing and I've got a couple to share with you:
The Astro Smurf (Pilot Episode):
Something that I noticed in this episode was that Greedy was constantly hiccuping - this seemed to be his main thing. It was only an episode-long thing, but being the pilot and all, I think it might have been intended to be a running thing throughout the whole series, but was decided against and dropped by the second episode.
You'd already know this because you listened to the podcast of Danny Goldman, Brainy's voice actor, that I linked you a while back, but Brainy has a different voice in the pilot than he does in the rest of the entire series. If I hadn't known this prior to seeing the episode, I don't think I would have noticed at all, although you can tell differences. Your thoughts on the different voice?
You can kind of understand why the smurfs would want to lie for Dreamy's (it was Dreamy, right?) sake, but going through such massive trouble to keep him in the dark and keep him happy seems rather far-fetched to me.
Smurfette as a swoof seems like she has a beard??? (Wouldn't you agree?)
St Smurf and the Dragon
I just find it utterly amusing when Brainy facepalms and goes, "Oh, for smurf's sake!" Now, that's a usage of "smurf" that I find reeeaaally hard not to attribute as a swear.
Something else. Brainy's holding up a book in front of his face in one scene, but he's not actually reading. He has his eyes closed for the duration of that scene.
And one other general thing. In the opening of the episodes that I've got (there are possibly different versions of the opening, I can't remember), but Papa Smurf is seen carrying Baby Smurf, even though Baby Smurf isn't introduced until much later. What's going on there? If it's an updated opening after Baby's arrival I can understand, but if that opening was made prior... Actually, pretty sure there are different versions of openings. Just wondering about that particular one and the background.
Anyway, if you have anything else to add about any of the episodes I've mentioned tidbits about here, feel free.

I'll join in where I can! I do have those two episodes, so I re watched them myself.
The Astrosmurf
- She looks like she just has the same skin marking as the others to me. I guess that cou9:43 AM 9/25/2013 look like a beard, though?
- Their voices ALL sound squeekier. At least for the role of 'random background smurf'. Brainy I most certainly would not have noticed a change in. Actually, I can't really hear a difference even knowing!
- Barring the opening, Gargamel and Azrael were introduced before the smurfs!
- Papa Smurf isn't around when the others are laughing at Dreamy. The one time he is there, nobody laughs and all but Brainy become sympathetic.
- Clumsy's innocent reply to where he was when brains were handed out.
- One scene, Azrael is with Smurfette and Dreamy. In the next, he's back with Gargamel. Error? Or were they actually that close and only Azrael knew?
- Gargamel is such a minor threat already that Papa Smurf considers Dreamy not wanting to leave a bigger problem. Well, that explains the lack of action to get rid of Gargamel more permanantly!
- Sound carries up. Dreamy should have heard their smurfing about the ungreased pole.
- Some establishing moments in this episode. There's a scene with a rabbit in the background who seems to serve no purpose other than decoration. My guess is it's there to demonstrate how small the smurfs are. Lots of characterization established as well. Dreamy's obsession with space, Brainy being Brainy (and being mocked for it), Smurfette being sympathetic, Grouchy hating everything, Clumsy being oblivious, Jokey pulling a prank (that isn't a 'surprise'!), and of course, Papa coming up with magical solutions. Also, the "Is it much farther" running gag in the pilot!
St. Smurf and the Dragon
- I'm not sure I heard it as a swear, but rather strong language for a smurf, at least!Β
- Maybe he fell asleep reading it.
- Searching for Glowberries: One smurf is legless. It looks like Lazy. Also, Brainy's no-glasses eyes show at the end while he has his glasses.
- I just noticed that Smurfette mhas nostrils. Did she always?
- Proof that the smurfs are at least vegetarians, not vegans.Β
- Clumsy with one of Jokey's surprises?
- What did Azrael say to that dragon? That wasn't a normal meow.
General
That's just the opening Cartoon Network (I believe) shoehorned on to the entire series. It is from a later season, obviously including Baby. I actually do have a DVD with the s1 opening - it has a narrator introducing the Smurfs as good and Gargamel as bad.

That's lucky that you have both of them, then.
(The Astrosmurf)
I think it looks just like five-o'clock shadow though... XD
And YES, I definitely noticed squeakier voices. Although I think sometimes it's hard to tell because apparently the voices in episodes were sped up to sound squeakier, or something... I don't know the details, but I heard that somewhere, which may mean that the episodes that come on TV today/are on DVD may have faster and squeakier voices than the episodes that originally aired on TV in the 1980s (which would explain why sometimes the voices sound so ridiculously high that you can't help but wonder whether they were altered or taken straight from the voice actor). And the random background smurf voices just sound.... Weird. Not all of them were squeaky though. It seems like the first background smurf to speak has two voices, and the second voice sounds exactly like Brainy's! That is, when he says, "But it was a smurfy landing". I think the weirdest background voice was a little later though, when another smurf says, "And another smurfy landing". It's really... Low. Of course, voice differences would be due to the voice actors just starting out and settling into the voices, so there would be a lack of consistency as they experiment and find what's right for them. And, speaking of random background smurfs, I didn't realise there was a consistent voice(s) for random background smurfs? As far as I've noticed, when a smurf that SEEMS like a background smurf's speaks, they have a main character smurf's voice that doesn't have any distinguishing aspects in their outfit, such as Jokey.
And you're right about Brainy's voice. Yes, it's crazy how similar it sounds and how hard it is to notice... But I can pick out the difference; probably because he's my favourite so therefore I'm always paying so much attention to everything about him.
I noticed that! Gargamel and Azrael take up the very first scene!
I did vaguely notice their sudden change in heart, but I hadn't thought to attribute that to Papa's presence.
Yes, that was classic.
I simply would have thought that time passed between the two scenes in which Azrael had the opportunity to make his way back to the hovel.
True...
Eh, cartoon logic...
Well noticed. Interestingly enough, it took me ages to finally see an episode with that gag in it, and even then I'd already heard about it from other fans before seeing it. But it's actually in quite a few episodes!
(St Smurf and the Dragon)
Yes, that it is. But think about it; although I accept that I do belief there is a usage of "smurf" that doesn't actually has an English equivalent, and is an indefinable/filler word in its own right, more often than not "smurf" has to replace an actual word. So what can be said that the "smurf" in "for smurf's sake" is replacing? For goodness sake? But then Brainy would have said smurfness and not smurf, wouldn't he? Anyway... XD I just find that amusing.\
Maybe... But his upright and otherwise awake position apart from his eyes say otherwise.
Hahaha, I didn't notice that legless smurf! Was it the one holding the basket? I took a screenshot of it.
About Brainy... Not sure what you were talking about. If it's what I think, are you sure he doesn't just have his eyes closed? That's what it looks like.
Yeah, I've been beginning to see that... She does seem to be frequently depicted with nostrils.
Why would they be vegans?
What's this about Clumsy with one of Jokey's surprises?
You'd have to point out the exact moment so I can check out that meow...
Yeah, I was thinking it might be something like that. That seems more plausible. And I have a couple of the DVDs actually; I think it has the same opening you're talking about. Is it the one that goes something like this: Narrator:"[...]Some two thousand miles away, that's where they live and work and play[...]" (smurfs):"We live there happily indeed..." (Narrator):"But there's danger there, lurking everywhere, because Gargamel will catch you if he can!" Smurfs:"That is true indeed..."
Okay that was really messy, but I can't make out most of the lyrics. It doesn't stop it from being really catchy though. So is it that opening?
