Description
Another doodle that fleshed itself into existence!Summer is right at the door, and there's something wonderful about relaxing in a cool place, well sheltered from summer heat, but still with some of that sun keeping it just warm and comfy.
I really liked how it came out, the feel and the concept worked out pretty well.
The only things that bugs me is the fact that entire piece might be too dark. Though I aimed for something chiaroscuro style... oh well, tell me what you think!

Very striking use of lighting. I love the way that Impressionists sometimes use a language of painting with light instead of merely paint, and that idea is very strong in this piece as well.

I like it. The background is actually very simple, but seen from afar, it does not matter.

Very nice, and I don't think it's too dark. The lighting reminds me of one of those monasteries that were built with defensibility in mind and thus have few and narrow windows. An inner sanctum, if you will, very serene. This could be in an old and secluded wing of Canterlot castle, were Celestia retreats to every now and then to reminisce about said simpler days.
The strong palette you used for her and the window makes her look radiant... she just can't escape her identity, even if she wanted to. Looks content though; the image conveys a lot of atmosphere.

And yeah It was kind of my idea for the building. Here where I live there are a lot of those almost castle like stone monasteries/churches. Very sturdy, rustic and traditional. But what I really love is that cold stone and wood smell when you get inside one on a summer day, definitely was a part of my inspiration for this drawing

Just sitting there, starring at the window and eating banana cookies all day. The lack of shadow under the towel makes it look like a strange floating towel that got copypasted from another picture. Like you just put it in between floor and plate layers, but forgot to make shadows.

D'aww it's soo beautiful.. :3 And the title reminds me of growing up, heh, that was the simpler life... >_< Life's too complex now with taxes, job, and well, life.. heh I really do appreciate the time I get to spend napping on my couch most often. Blah, but I really like the reflection on the ground in front of Celestia, it almost looks like she's doodling something herself!! ^_^ Also the dust in the light from the window is really cool detail!

yeah, I always appreciate little moments of nothing when I can, Its so easy to get wrapped up in all this noise and running without end.
happiness comes form little simple things, a hot coffee, blue sky, tiny flowers on sidewalk ^^
