The very first African American superheroine. Before Nubia, Bumblebee, and Vixen. Before Storm and Misty Knight. The Butterfly appeared in Hell-Rider #s 1 and 2, published by Skywald. She's in public domain, as Skywald didn't include the proper copyright notice, pdsh.fandom.com/wiki/Butterfly

In Earth-1635, in 1971, Marian Michaels was a cabaret singer in Las Vegas, but she wanted adventure and to fight evil. Her father had been an assistant to Carl Martin, the hero known as Rocket Man, and he let her have one of his jetpacks. She added strobe lights in her wings to blind her enemies, as she had enough technical knowledge to the system and maintain the jetpack. After fighting crime for two years, she was approached by the aging psychic detective Destiny, who asked her to enter stasis to combat a menace he foresaw in the future. After deliberating on the offer, she accepted, believing that she was need more in the future than in the present. In 2005, after the Ultimate Agency murdered Destiny, the heroes came of stasis to oppose the superpowered dictators. She joined the army of heroes in the assault of the UA's base, and is currently being held in stasis again.
