Hey all,Decided to do some speed painting practice. I`ve just finished the HBO mini series "The Pacific" and felt it would a be a good subject to use. Really enjoyed the series. As good as band of brothers?....tough call.
It`s loosely based on this image

My two regrets about that series was that they didn't feature the Medal of Honor winning Marine that was a real life Rambo, Tony Stein, [link] Shootout Iwo Jima Part 1, 8:30 Onwards to Iwo Jima Part 2 [link] but I wish they also focused on my great, great ancestor William Edwin "Ed" Dyess who survived and told the terrible story of the Bataan Death March and the Japanese Prison camps there [link] I am Tyler Dyess, his descendent and my family Dyess history goes back to the Revolutionary War back in 1776.

You replied to a comment of mine on why you decided against putting more dust plumes in the distance and I understood your reason. Now I just looked back on this artwork and just suddenly realized that tank in the background.

It captures the chaos faced by the lowly leatherneck magnificently.
As for Band of Brothers compared to The Pacific? Both respectable. Easily displaces a pacific's worth when amongst all the various retreaded comedy's and cop shows on TV. It easily satisfied my action fix (because it didn't devolve into a lame shout-fest with the criminal. Those IJA will tear you apart).

Nice, the red sun in the background is a nice touch. I still haven't seen the new series, but sure it's hard for it to surpass Band of Brothers.

The red circle is simply a reference to the japan flag, as the series focuses on the battles that raged against the japan empire in the pacific.
