Description
From my website : "The old digital version was really lazy. I did more work in Illustrator than Photoshop. Once I had it in raster, I just slapped gradients and textures on it and called it a day because I couldn’t figure out how to get the effect I wanted — and to be honest I wasn’t completely sure what I wanted. It started as a Yin Yang, and then I wanted to incorporate another design that was part feather and part comet. Then I left it alone because it was fun to see how other people interpreted the design."I was obsessed with the feather motif because it can so easily become a fern, and thus incorporates both carnivore and herbivore species. I ended up leaning into the fern motif in the top of the design, since the fiddlehead represents new life. Spirals also represent infinity, and in a cosmic sense also represent life. The other side of the design felt like it should be a comet, so I went with that angle. I think I could probably shade some more around it to balance the image. I probably will at some point."
The first introduction of the design is in an embossed format, so I do need a cleaner version that I can do that with, but the old version was really bothering me, so I'm glad to have this one done. I want to make stickers and keychains and bookmarks so I really need to get this and a few other workable designs down on paper. It DOES still bother me that I didn't get the feathered/fern look I was going for.
