Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

You can tell you have it when you can't stop yourself from performing certain actions over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over...

--------------------

I actually wrote out a whole page of this text and photographed it.

Wow, the way you photographed it is cool.
I like the angle and how the words seem to blur out at either end.

it makes me a very sad deja vu that deviation is about me and my OCD. Anyway, great idea to show how it works

Wow.
That's all I can say.
This beautifully captures the feeling of repetitiveness.
This truly is amazing.
And I can say all this with confidence, for I too have OCD. (I don't "suffer". It's not a disease, its a disorder. And because of it, I am who I am.)

What that supposed to be cynical....?

AK74KillsQuickly In reply to L0UDST [2008-09-06 10:59:40 +0000 UTC]

Not at all. I got OCD, so I understood the piece of art pretty well, although it's kinda direct.

At least in the mind, it's all about anxieties and repeated thoughts over and over.

Then IRL you just have some weird compulsions to do something, usually again and again and again.

So yeah. The artist conveyed it very well.

This piece really moved me. As soon as I saw it, I thought "that's it."

Even after medication and therapy I still fall into that repetition from time to time.

I'm hear ya with mental stuff up there im 13 and I've started having OCD with out knowing it when I was about 7 with my bike my life was a cage by the time i got some help meaning therapy and my twelth birthday one of the more common things that really scare me is the number between 2 and 4 it's nice to know there are so many other people out there who really know what this disorder is.

pharaohatemuYouTube [2007-05-11 04:08:26 +0000 UTC]

Yep, that is exactly what OCD is. You want to stop, but the urge is too strong, so you keep doing it until you get to the right number, but if you mess up, you have to start all over. My OCD keeps me up about two hours to do light switches before I go to bed, it really sucks... TT_TT Anyways, very nice angle! ^_^

vityav [2007-01-02 23:59:23 +0000 UTC]

I did this once on a history assignment, but not quite so orderly. I wrote "filling empty spaces" and tried to cover up as much white space as I could in the class period. The teacher sent me to the school psychologist...

am-y In reply to vityav [2007-01-03 17:42:01 +0000 UTC]

the teacher had no sense of humour and was in denial students only do that when a lesson is boring

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

vityav In reply to am-y [2007-01-03 18:16:26 +0000 UTC]

Haha, well it wasn't a lesson, he just wanted us to spend two hours filling out a worksheet that only took me about five minutes... so I improvised

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

am-y In reply to vityav [2007-01-04 07:48:10 +0000 UTC]

what a case of wrong estimation he was probably peeved you took that fast; the longer you take, the more time he has to "rest"

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

vityav In reply to am-y [2007-01-04 07:59:43 +0000 UTC]

Haha, I guess. He was an old guy, he even kicked a kid out of that class for saying "Why do you teach an 8 AM class? I thought old people got grumpy when they had to wake up early." It was funny Either way, he wasnt very good at understanding kids.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

am-y In reply to vityav [2007-01-04 18:07:01 +0000 UTC]

...but that did sound a tad disrespectful and insensitive

when you're old you don't want to be told that, you don't want to be reminded that you've got a foot in the grave i'd have been hurt

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

vityav In reply to am-y [2007-01-04 21:39:47 +0000 UTC]

Oh yes, it was quite disrespectful, I meant it was funny to see the kid kicked out of class
I hope when I'm old I don't take offense to things like that though. I like to think I would have responded with "I wake up for the satisfaction of being able to torture people like you" or something

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

am-y In reply to vityav [2007-01-05 19:13:24 +0000 UTC]

yeah, i would've responded with a witty comeback too, though inside it would still have hurt

maybe that kid wanted to get kicked out

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

vityav In reply to am-y [2007-01-05 19:49:40 +0000 UTC]

Maybe but I seem to recall that that was the only time he could take that class, and it was required Then again, he didn't seem like the type who would consider consequences first... Oh well

am-y In reply to vityav [2007-01-06 05:03:57 +0000 UTC]

act first then think huh? not very wise in the adult/working world though!

vityav In reply to am-y [2007-01-06 08:28:19 +0000 UTC]

Maybe he wanted to become a professional athlete, or an actor or maybe (and more plausibly) he was to go on to become the guy who just pushes the little red button whenever the little red light comes on
