When in doubt, read book. In a strange place where the ground is dry and cracked despite there being water nearby. Makes perfect sense.I used Gradient maps for this. It was quite painful. I'm not convinced that I like them very much.

i really love the painting style in this! specially the rocky surface has rly nice feel to it, and the sunlight filtered on the pages of the open book look amazing! really nice

Oh I am SO happy to hear someone mention a painterly style! I tried doing a completely different method from my normal painting, and I was worried that it came across as too mechanical. I'm also so happy with the how the book came out, thank you <3
