Description Another commission for the lovely of her original species the feathered runner.  I always struggle to fit winged creatures onto a piece of paper in a way that works well. But I like how this came out. And I'm pretty happy with the wings. They're at least an area that I know for certain that I've improved in.  I hope that you like it!

All done in mechanical pencil on 110gms paper.

I love the design! Great job on contrast and depth here. I hope to finish a detailed piece next week.

I always find that, no matter what size paper I use wings always seem to use more space.

The only solution I've found is to make a digital canvass where I can keep on adjusting the size XD

Yeah, or when working on paper I draw a box and try to keep in in that and then when it overflows it's still on the page.

But then the whole drawing is so much smaller! (theoretically)

I guess, but the wings do sometimes fit. Silly wings.

The intricate shading on this really helps the feathers look realistic. It's neat.

Thanks! Looking at it, I can see areas that I could improve on yet, but, I know that I've come a far far way in terms of drawing wings, and so I'm quite proud of my accomplishment!

You should be proud, anatomically, it's some of the best work I've been on DA in a while.

Yes, and I'm a stickler for wings because I have raised an bred different types of birds.

Haha okay, well then I'm doubly honoured
I've always been so bad at wings, but I think that I'm getting a bit better at them

I'm really glad! Your drawing seemed to have more of a predatory, almost dinosaur/mammal thing look to it, rather than a cutsey bird, so I hope that I managed to get that across!
