Description Based off a panel in chapter 75 of the Fullmetal Alchemist manga. I liked the pose and the angle and decided to make a sketch of it. I kinda screwed up his face, though... It's Hoho papa when he was younger and didn't have glasses yet.

I'll probably scrap this sketch later. But you can colour it if you want. Note to self: I really should learn how to ink my messy pencil linearts... -_-;

Wow! I've been drawing way too much FMA fanart lately... Sorry, I'll eventually get back to drawing animals...

Hoenheim! Okay, question: why is he called Hoenheim of Light? "of Light"??? What does that mean??

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Amarevia In reply to bechedor79 [2007-10-31 14:25:00 +0000 UTC]

Good question! Lol. "He is shown to be an extremely powerful alchemist, possibly the strongest in the series, showcasing his talents in transmuting light (hence his nickname)." ~Wikipedia

I also read somewhere that this could mean, there is "Hohenheim of Light" and "Hohenheim of Dark". Basically, Hohenheim of Light = good and Hohenheim of Dark = evil. ("Hohenheim of Dark" is the master of the Homunculi in the manga.) But I guess it's only a theory made up by fans. I mean the guy really exists, but they never mention these nicknames in the manga.

Lahtikahjo In reply to Amarevia [2007-10-31 17:14:24 +0000 UTC]

The "Light" nickname is an anime only -thing. His name is just Von (or Van) Hohenheim in the manga. And there is no "Hohenheim of Dark", neither in the manga nor in the anime. The homunculi's master apparently isn't called Hohenheim of... anything. The homunculi call him "Father" (but everyone probably knows that).

Amarevia In reply to Lahtikahjo [2007-11-01 15:36:33 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, that's why I said it was probably just a fan-made theory (at first, lots of fans belived "Father" was Hohenheim himself after all), but I did read it in a forum once. But now we finally know what "Father" is and why he looks like Hohenheim, hehe.

Oh wow...well, that explains it. No wonder! I always thought it was really weird that they called him that...

I like how you did the folds in the clothing! The fingers on his right hand look a tad short though.

I love his hair and clothes, great job

Amarevia In reply to chocolateviera [2007-10-31 14:04:36 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, you're right about the fingers! I thought so too, but they seemed this short on the reference pic as well, so I didn't correct them.

Thank you!

what's with the awesome clothing?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Amarevia In reply to mangalori [2007-10-31 13:59:04 +0000 UTC]

Dunno... I still haven't read the scanlations... XDDD
Well, he used to be a slave or something like that, but he made a deal with a Homunculus when he was young (at about Ed's actual age), so then he became an important person. That happened in a country/city, which has a somewhat ancient chinese-ish/greek-ish/indian-ish feel to me. Thus the clothing. I could be wrong, since I have only the RAW of this chapter.

wow there is so much more to the story in the manga appearantly! I'm soo gonna read em now! (when I have the time TT_TT)

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Amarevia In reply to mangalori [2007-11-01 15:43:15 +0000 UTC]

Yup. Actually, the whole storyline is different. At the beginning it's pretty much like the anime with a few different scenes, but then it gets totally different with a few similar scenes, lol.

Your very welcome! You know whats odd...In 3rd-5th grade I had a friend whos dad looked Exactly like Hoeinhiem except he had white hair...It was weird to go to an anime con (me dressing as Winry and my friend dressing as Envy) It sparked a lot of attention

Amarevia In reply to Hawaiian-Brit [2007-11-03 06:43:45 +0000 UTC]

Well, anime characters usually ARE skinny and pretty.
Still, I think comparing yourself to an anime character and trying to look like her/him is quite stupid.
