Description
Dick Blick cold press 140lb 12x16 watercolor paper. Student grade acrylic.
This was a test of acrylic paint on watercolor paper. I must say the results astonished me. I had heard that acrylic performed like watercolor when thinned down, but I was skeptical. The first 3 layers of this acrylic did what watercolor would do! Then it went back to performing like acrylic. It was very interesting to work with texturally and presented new challenges to how I layer up a picture with paint, but it was also so fun!
I didn't use a reference because I was in an arts and crafts studio downtown and it was only to be a test of how the paint interacted with the paper. I painted hydrangeas from memory.
