These characters are Ichijou Masaki and Kichijouji Shinkuro from The Irregular at the Magic High School/Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei. Masaki is nicknamed The Crimson Prince, and Shinkuro is nicknamed Cardinal George. Crimson Prince is a species of red maple tree, and cardinal is also a bird, which is why they are sitting in a red maple tree with a cardinal in it. In the light novels, it's revealed that Masaki and Shinkuro are dating, as Masaki's bratty younger sister picks on them for it because she is jealous and in love with Shinkuro herself, even though she is several years younger than Shinkuro.

This is a present for someone very dear to me. This painting required a process I don't do often, which is basic references and a lot of imagination. I used a catalogue picture to get the shape of the red maple leaves and then arranged the leaves and branches the way I personally wanted. The pose came from a Pinterest photo of real life people, and multiple references of Masaki and Shinkuro were used to draw them over the top of the pose.
