Sypha from Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse. Sypha is a magic-user that was changed into stone for an indeterminite amount of time by a cyclops. In the game you, as Trevor, fight the cyclops and free Sypha. In the game you don't find out that she's a girl until you beat the game with her. It is pretty much cannon now that Trevor ends up marrying her and the Belmont line continues. Currently, there's a Castlevania cartoon series in the works and they're hiring concept artists. I got to thinking about Sypha. She has very little characterization in the game and very little personality and (not that Trevor's got much either, but...) I was thinking, "they fell in love during this little adventure?!? Um... hello..." I could see Sypha falling in love with Trevor, he rescued her, but there has to be a little more to Sypha for Trever to want to spend the rest of his life with her. So, I was thinking, it's be pretty cool if she was kind of fun. I wanted to draw a Sypha that was pretty and sweet looking but also looked like she knew how to have fun and maybe had a little mischevious streak to her. I could see her character in the cartoon as sort of happy go lucky and enthusiastic... and actually, quite a bit clumsy. My Sypha may look graceful, but she's almost always dropping things. ^_^
