This is actually the last picture I ever painted without line-art. No paper used, just photoshop and the mouse. When I used to paint I would have the blank canvas (in PS) and the reference picture right beside it, and just paint from scratch, literally starting with a blob of colour, just copying from the reference. How I used to do that I have no idea!!!! I couldn't do it now. When I first submitted this particular painting to deviantart, someone told me his hand was too small - which it was. I had to cut it out, resize it and then paste it onto the image which worked quite well.
But yeah, since then I started drawing the lineart first (as you'll see if you take a peek in my scraps gallery, theres one picture there and you'll see how it all comes together 
Infact you know what? I have a picture of this painting here when I first started out (blobs of paint minus lineart) I shall post that in my scraps gallery right now!

Another one? I prefer the darker appearance of this one, makes that cheek bone look right. I love the intense eyes, and the mouth looks perfect.
