My cherry blossom venture this year was fun. Should have gone a day or so earlier than I did when the blossoms had hit their peak. Most of the trees had fully bloomed so there was barely any pink in the trees they were all white in Washington DC.

I do. Still haven't done anything with them yet. It was a rather reconnecting experience with my mother though. My grandfather passed six months prior to our excursion, so we passed the camera back and forth in a way that was almost cathartic. After all in passing though not written in his will what he passed on to me was his passion for photography. He had started taking classes in college then spent hours on end in the dark room. The Artists Eye is arguably a genetic trait of either having the eye or not. My mother and I both share the passion for it and it just snowballed for me.
I remember there was a shot I was trying to take and there wasn't a rail along this portion of The Tidal Basin and my mother was loosing it because she can't swim. I on the other hand who seek this as a profession thrive for the moments like that. The ones where you have to stand on the ledge and place your arms in an odd contorted position. After all you don't get a Pulitzer Prize for playing it safe.

So do I.. this was one of the few happy surprises of the day.. I was using my husband's camera and kept on forgetting to change the settings and ended up with so many blurred shots

Yeah...there's a twinge of regret thinking about them, but being in Japan was not just about beautiful photos.. God knows there better shots by better photographers... so I'm good
