Description For newest contest, In the Movies. Done in No. 2 pencil and watercolor on watercolor paper.

"Once upon a time, buried deep in the forests of the Isla de Cuervo, there lay an awesome treasure. Stories of it's grandeur had been told in the Gold Crown Sea as long as anyone could remember. Some said that it was protected by a powerful God, who would curse any who sought it, other's that it was the last remnant of the great wealth of Atlantis. Most travelers dismissed it as sailor's fancy. Yet a boy and a girl believed the treasure was real, and set out to find it. After a long and perilous journey the young adventurers found the island, and the treasure. But when they opened the chest, and took the gold inside, the terrible Raven-God who guarded it awoke. To keep the monster from destroying all of the Gold Crown, the boy gave up his heart, which broke to pieces and was scattered on the wind. The God was sealed again, and the boy and girl allowed to live. Yet without his heart the boy was nothing more than a doll, and the girl was broken with sorrow. Time passed, and the pain of her loss should have dulled. But a piece of the boy's heart had lodged inside her, and it festered there, feeding on her guilt and despair, until she could find no peace. At last she swore to return the boy's heart, even if it meant destroying the world. She set out with a ship and a crew, and for years she roamed the sea, stealing and plundering, stopping at nothing to find the pieces of his heart. Soon her name was awed and feared by pirate and peasant alike, and all but the one gem had been found. So she sailed to Port Kinkan for one last battle, before she could return to the Isla de Cuervo once again."

Ahiru as Elizabeth Duck - The Governor's younger sister. Kind and good-hearted, she is close friends with the crazy Jack Sparrow, and his guardian William Turner, but is completely oblivious to William's growing love for her. When pirates attack Port Kinkan, Elizabeth is kidnapped and taken before their Captain, the notorious Blackbird. Once they are out on the open sea Blackbird reveals that she has kidnapped Elizabeth for her ruby necklace- a present from her friend Jack Sprarrow. But now that she has the necklace, why does Blackbird still keep Elizabeth captive? What more could the Captain want from her?

Mytho as Jack Sparrow - Elizabeth's childhood friend. Eight years ago he was found shipwrecked, the only clues to his identity a lustrous red gemstone, and a bird tattoo on his wrist. Saved by Elizabeth and the Governor, it becomes clear that his time adrift has left him severely addled. His behavior swings from mute and semi-comatose to ludicrous. No one understands his reasoning, and his only personality trait is an apperent fascination with the sea, revealed by his constant watching of the ships in harbor and his enjoyment of pirate shanties. His "brain-fever" proves too much for the Governor, who places him in the care of the local blacksmith. However, Elizabeth still sees him as a close friend, and he gives her his jewel as a going away present.

Fakir as William Turner - The town blacksmith and Jack's guardian. A friend of Elizabeth's since childhood, Will finds their relationship strained by his sudden romantic feelings for her. When she is kidnapped by Blackbird, he sets off to save her, accompanied by the Governer and Jack, who stows away on their ship.

Rue as Captain Blackbird - An infamous pirate, and Elizabeth's mysterious captor. Blackbird has sailed the Gold Crown Sea for years searching for a set of red gems, and attacks Port Kinkan in order to steal Elizabeth's necklace. Eventually Blackbird reveals that the jewels are actually shards of her lover's shattered heart, which she hopes to return to him by bringing all the pieces together again, and that the gem set into Elizabeth's necklace is one of them. Yet even after taking the necklace from Elizabeth, she still keeps the girl captive. What purpose does she serve? Why is it so important that she accompany the crew to Isla de Cuervo?

Femio as The Governor- Elizabeth's foppish and romantic older brother, and Governor of Port Kinkan. Although rather eccentric, he is devoted to his sister Elizabeth. When she is taken captive, he braves the dangers and discomforts of the sea in order to save her.

Pique and Lilie as Pintel and Lagetti - Pirates under Captain Blackbird. Pintel is a relatively ordinary shipmate, but dreams of one day becoming as strong and beautiful as her Captain. However, her partner Lagetti doesn't seem to take her duties seriously at all, and spends most of her time teasing the new prisoner, or sighing over Blackbird's continuing saga of doomed love.

The Raven as the Raven-God - Protector of the cursed treasure: According to legend, if the treasure were ever discovered, the Raven-God would be unleashed and bring great destruction to the Gold Crown. The only way to appease the creature is to offer it a human heart as a sacrifice, and so reset the treasure again. If Blackbird were to restore her lover's heart, the Raven-God would be free again... unless another heart could be found to take its place.

Notes: Ragetti's name was changed to Lagetti, (inspired the r/l switches so common when anime is translated) so that both Pique and Lilie's character's names would match better, and I changed Elizabeth's last name from Swann to Duck. Also, as I couldn't see naming Rue "Barbossa" ("red beard") I started looking for a new name for her as well. So then, while I was researching POTC on Wikipedia I found that the pirate captain was originally named Blackheart... then I thought, "What sounds like Blackheart? Blackbeard. Well, that won't help, but wait a minute... How about Blackbird!"
