I must ask, is your death (top left) Terry Pratchett inspired?

Nope, I read the first Discworld book ages ago and really couldn't get into it, so I've never read any of his other books. I do keep meaning to try the series again, since he has such a loyal following!

give the movie and animated short series a try. Β The Colour of Magic and Hogfather have been made into movies. Β Netflix had them on last year around christmas not sure if they will again or not but your local library may have a copy.
Terry Pratchett and Pierce Anthony both do wonderful incarnations of Death

There's some pretty cool some going on here!
Your skeletons are super creepy! I like the textures you create on them -- really rigid, rough surfaces made even more menacing by the way you use shadows and different tones to flesh them out, er bring them to life....give them a lifelike look and feel. The Grim Reaper in the first card has a really scary glare and sneer, and I like the sharp edged features on its jaws and cheeks. It looks truly menacing!
The other skeleton has a little less personality -- it's features aren't contorted into anything but a blank, lifeless "expression," but I like how the light bounces on it's skull a little more and looks a bit more lifelike. And I think having it be a bit more neutral lets the spiders take center stage....and *shiver* they super creep me out. Spiders terrify me, and these guys, especially the big on in the middle....give me the jibblies.
The witches are awesome! I love how the contrast with each other, how distinct and unique they are. I love the colors on the one on the left -- the purple accents on her outfit are really pretty. I love her expression -- it's very friendly and cute! Her smirk is great. And her hair has a really lovely sense of flow as it softly falls around her shoulders. And her eyes are bright and open.
Which contrasts with the witch on the right. Her eyes are narrowed in this sinister glare, with a mean smirk on her lips. The shadows and highlight on her hair are created with more more craggly shaped than the soft, fluid marks on the other witch. The frayed edges of her hood, the darker colors, and the more ominous background -- it's such a fun contrast between the two! They both look AMAZING, and so different from each other. Awesome job with that!
I like the one with the girl in bed and the scary shadow. I like the girl's expression -- her hair flops on the pillow and for the most part she's calmly laying in bed -- but the way one hand grips tightly to her pillow, and how her eyes nervously peek to the side...it makes for a really believable sense of suspense and worry, the moment just before she sees what's going on and becomes terrified. And I like the shapes of the shadow -- those sharp features and long arms and fingers and strands of hair that bend at sharp angles.
The trick or treaters are cute! Except the little boy -- he's kind of a jerk. XD But I like how his arms and his cape sweep out and around the whole card, making it clear how much he's scared the other two. I like the girls' costumes, but their expressions really sell it. I like that look of surprise on the cat girl's face -- her wide eyes and open mouth show a lot of shock! The fairy girl's expression is maybe even stronger -- the look on her face is surprised and a bit pained, and the way she lifts her arm and her body hunches down and cowers back a bit -- it feels so REAL! It feels like what I do when I get spooked in a haunted house. XD Awesome job.
The black cats and pumpkins are cute. Even if they're really angry. But really, how can I not like kitties. : )
The bloody ghost -- YIKES! She's super creepy! That howling expression on her face, the long, clawlike fingers, the bloodstained dress and the frayed, bloody sleeves that look like flayed skin flapping around her arms...Yikes. XD
I like the mummy you created. I like how he's not just wrapped from head to toe in bandages, and I like how a lot of his Egyptian dress shows through. I really like how gnarled and rotted his body looks under the bandages. The mouth in particular -- it looks like his jaw doesn't attach to his face anymore, drooping down in this perpetual growling snarl that bares his rotting teeth. His arms are gnarled and almost skeletal, but again, feel like they're covered with rotting flesh that makes him even creepier. And his pose has this kind of stiff, awkwardness to it that makes me imagine the jolting, lumbering, inhuman gait he'd have as he chases you down. Awesome job.
The last one looks great, too, though it's the one that grabs me the least. I like the colors and lighting, with the bright moon casting light over the whole scene. The vampire lady looks good, but...it's a bit more sedate and quite than all of the other cards that really pull me in.
Took me a while to comment but I wanted to be sure I did because I think these are amazing! π: 0 β©: 1

lol! The witch? Or the girl with the shadow figure? My original plan with the shadow figure was to base it off accounts of sleep paralysis, but it kind of changed by the time I put it on paper. It basically became me and my fears as I kid. I sought out scary stuff like crazy (and still do) but my imagination got the better of me most nights!

Shadow figure. Β I tend to have hypnopompic hallucinations every few months, so... scary stuff looms over my bed just as I wake up. Suckkks.

LOL. I'm more sorry for my husband, who has to deal with me screaming until I wake up! ^_^ Β Anyway, love the picture. Love all your work.

Haha! Yessss. I totally saw a great youtube video a week ago and was hiding in bed that night so I didn't see anything creepy in the dark. As a child (okay, and as a teen) I would seek out the creepiest stuff I could find in daylight, but when darkness came and I was alone in my room, I knew it was unlikely I'd survive the night. ;D (It was "Lights Out" on youtube, if you haven't seen it yet: www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fDzdD⦠)
