Description Nathair rummaged around in his closet, he never really cleaned it out after he moved into the room. So far he had just come across some old boxes filled with various useless items, like the simple rocks he had collected as a child, and clothes that no longer fit. It really was a boring and tedious job, but one that had to be done. At least he now would have room in his closet.  As he was cleaning the top shelf his fingers brushed against something in the back made of leather. Curious, he moved aside some boxes to better see what he had touched. He inhaled sharply when he saw a pair of black work boots. Slowly, as if the boots could lunge out at him, he reached out towards them and gently grabbed them both.  It was like he was transported back in time, a time when this room had a different occupant.

A young Nathair watched as the older wolf laced the beautiful boots. The other wolf noticed Nathair's interest in his shoes and grinned. "Like my boots, Nathair?" He asked the boy with a chuckle. The younger wolf nodded, "One day I am going to wear boots just like those." He said excitedly. The older male laughed as he rubbed the top of Nathair's head. "I look forward to that day."  A few days later Nathair noticed the older wolf put a different pair of boots, ones not as beautiful as the last pair. "What happened to the other pair of boots?" He asked the other male. He grinned down at Nathair before replying. "You said you wanted to wear them one day and we can't have them get worn out before then."

Nathair opened his eyes as the memory faded away, not realizing he had closed his eyes at one point. He looked fondly at the boots in his hand before throwing them to the floor with a shout of anger. He immediately turned and punched the wall of the closet leaving a hole. "You kept them!" He growled angrily. Just as fast as his anger came it faded. "You kept them." He repeated, his voice now soft and quiet. He slumped to the ground and casually picked up one of the boots, putting it against his foot to compare the size. "It fits." he chuckled bitterly. He covered his face with hands and quietly cried.  His father in all but blood would never see him fill his shoes.
