Every time I thought about what happened,
I felt sick
But something,
I don’t know what.
Drew me back to that place,
The place where you betrayed me,
I kept replaying that scene in my mind,
But no matter how I looked at it,
It didn’t make sense
You left the comforts of home for me.
You gave up a secure future for me.
The night we left, you said things would be different
That you wouldn’t follow in the footsteps of those before you
That it was just going to be you and me.
Is this really someone who would stab me?
Who would betray me?
Or is this someone who became what they said they detested?
Who became what they swore never to be?
When I finally got there I….
I almost broke down,
But what had ever drawn me here forced me to keep going.
Seeing the weapon,
Your weapon,
On the ground,
Made me feel sick,
Like I had drunken sour milk,
I pushed through it though
I then noticed your other weapon.
Something you would never leave behind,
I then saw tracks of what look like something being dragged
Whatever it was,
It had bled,
Pieces were starting to come together
And I forced myself to think of what happened that night.
You had been on edge
At the slightest sound you had tensed.
Something had you concerned
And as you were doing it
As you were stabbing me,
Your face remained stiff,
Yet your eyes
Your eyes said that your heart was breaking.
It then hit me why you had done,
So strong that I had to sit down
It was to protect me.
You have always taken care of me,
Always sacrificed for me,
And I have never truly said thank you
I never really knew what you have done for me
Until now
Is it too late?
Is it too late to say thank you for real?
I make you this promise sister,
I will not rest until I find you
I will not stop until you are safe,
That’s promise from a brother that is thankful for what you have done
And who forever loves you.
