Description
This is a painting I did for a friend who asked me to paint him as I saw him at the time. Boring portraits aren't my thing and his isn't narcissictic enough to want to stare at a picture of himself so I chose the abstract concept of self discovery. Pursuing anything creative, it's scary, it's painful, and it's new. This is an attempt to capture the essence of how we met and the perception of what we do(music making), mixed with the purity of curiousity. Too look in the dark corners of one's being and see it's all a cycle of light and dark, choice, and sacrifice.
Done in both regular and flourescent paint, ink, marker, charcoal, pastel on two layers, one paper and one clear plastic.
White light view on the left, black light on the right. This was the first piece I did utilizing the layering technique
