For iam8bit's Space Heroes! Show! Available as a limited edition Giclee on their website, here! store.iam8bit.com/collections/…The illustration intended to be much, much happier, however after reading of the life and experiences of Laika, the first dog sent into orbit, her story stuck with me.
It is meant to convey the “rushed” operation to achieve reaching outer space, exploiting Laika’s calm, inviting demeanor and inevitably costing her her life. Most of the illustrations celebrate Laika as the first dog in space, forgetting that she had little choice in the matter. Despite the monument held in her honor, scientists admitted that due to the rushed deadline to build the rocket and the information gained after her demise, it was not worth the sacrifice of life.If you would like to read up on Laika, her Wikipedia page is here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laika

Wow. this is beyond words. first off, I think its a great topic that this is about, and the way you conveyed the message throught his art is astounding. Its very dramatic, and gets the point across more than effectively. I love this, and the way the smoke/gaseous space stuff you have coming out fo her(Laika) looks amazing. Those astronauts are extraordinarily detailed, especially on their arms and backs. This si abeautful piece of work, and it rivals that of everyone of your other artworks too. Great job. Phenomenal job.
I want to say, I am int he love witht he shading on the area around th elbow of the left astronauts right arm. Its very swoopy and nice looking, like melting mercury. Hoenstly his whole right arm is done perfectly. so is the right astronauts left arm, but its just shaded differently. Your contours are perfectly executed, and I love it. again, great job
